My boss and I are from California and we've been visiting Oregon on business for the past couple weeks, traveling between Roseburg and Portland. He was issued a citation on I-5 this evening while we were driving back from Portland, cited for going 77 in a 65.

He would like to reach out to an attorney to better understand how this citation will affect his California driver's license and hopefully help reduce the points/fine - can anyone recommend a traffic attorney in Douglas County? I should've kept an eye ahead of the road for him, and feel like this is the least I can do.

I cant recommend any specific attorneys, but worst case, you could always call the state bar for a referral to a traffic attorney and get a $35 30-min phone consultation.

A minor cite chargeability in Californa within months 0-12 will add 7 points to his DPS record. If his record is clean; the good driver discount will be retained as the discount is only removed if he has been convicted of more than one minor violation within 36 months. Additionally the chargeability in California is on the conviction date, not the citation date so he has plenty of time to fight it I suppose.
