Round 8 is two weeks from today! Saturday October 17th, we will be back at Buttonwillow CW13. Yes we just ran that direction but it will be cooler and I foresee a few more drivers entering the Sub 2 club!
Here is a video of a 1:59.15 from a few years back. https://youtu.be/b6zR3yTpcyc
A small throwback to the flight of the concords.
Format is TBD, Potentially FTD sessions 2-3 or 2-4. TT?
Sign up quick as the event is filling up quick. http://www.speedventures.com/events/...il.aspx?id=535

Write UP!!!!
Round 8 is in the books. The threat of closed roads did not keep competitors from showing up in force. 34 S2K's showed up to Buttonwillow to battle it out. The field was split between 4 Classes, from bone stock cars to Evasive testing their new V3 oh my god I need that in my life blue rocket.
Weather was slightly cooler from a month ago, this gave us a few more personal bests as well as the majority of the competitors running much faster times that Octobers event. Lets see how it the competiton shook out.
Street Class had 2 competitors. Van Nguyen set a 2:12.896 in session 3. This was almost 10 seconds faster than her Octobers times. Progress is happening fast in Stock Class. Challenge Newcomer Ethan Taylor, set a 2:11.192 in session 3 for the win! Congrats Stock Class Drivers!!!
Street Class 11 competitors. This has to be a new record for Street Class Attendance! Street Class cars are limited to 3.5 points which makes setups vary from non staggared on coils to OEM suspension with small aero. Definitely fun to drive. Here is how the competitors stacked up. In 11th place with a 2:28.543 was Marvin Deguzman. 10th was Joey Aquinde with a 2:13.809. 9th was Chris Gau. Chris ran a 2:11.343, a full second better than his October time. 8th was Brian Bryan Kim. Brain ran a 2:10.222 in session 3. 7th place was Fernando Muga with a 2:08.904. 6th place was Marvin Lopez. Marvin ran a 2:07.263 which was also a second faster than his October time. 5th place was Sohan Kota with a 2:05.675. 4th place was John Lee with a 2:04.823. John fixed his suspension and ran 4 seconds faster than his October time! 3rd Place went to Norman Kung. Norman ran a 2:03.679 which was 5 seconds faster than his October time. 2nd Place went to Huang Yi-Chao. Huang ran a 2:02.777 which was 1.3 seconds faster than his October winning time. However Sean Mulyanto Challenge Rookie showed he is a force to be reckoned with. Sean's wingless time of a 2:00.112 is one of the fastest street tire times we've seen at BW. Rumor has it Sean also went sub 2 later in the day. Maybe we need to see a video on that, Please!!!! Congrats to the Street Class!!!
Mod Class has blown up. 20 competitors showed up and laid down some impressive times. 20th went to Larry Word with a 2:12.630. 19th went to Asa Tatami with a 2:11.426. 18th was Dunant Hin with a 2:05.636. 17th was AJ Jaquias with a PB of a 2:04.906. In 16th was Kyle Kurka with a 2:04.653. 15th was Sung Hoon Seo with a 2:04.504. Konstantin Nikiforov, with a strong beard game and a 2:03.329 took 14th place. 13th with a broken diff was Marc Gabay. Marc set a 2:01.928 in Red 3. 12th place was Ryan Delgrosso. Ryan set a new personal best of a 2:01.766. 11th was Kiwook Moon. Kai set a 2:01.116 in red 3.
Ok so that was positions 11 through 20. Now its time for the top ten! Apparently the water was cooler than last months and while some went faster other couldn't manage to improve their times. There was a time not long ago where a low 2:00 would get you a podium. Not this event! a :59 wouldn't do it either! Here we go with the top 10!
In 10th was Michael Tsay. Fresh from a Daytona National Podium Mike set a 2:00.799 for the 10th spot. 9th went to Son Vo. Son ran a 2:00.374 in Orange 2. David Leung was lucky to borrow some competitive street tires and set a 2:00.360 barely clipping Son by .014 for the 8th spot. 7th was Rockstar Garage's own Justin Taylor. Justin set a 1:59.526 in a traffic filled red 3. This was a full second off his Red 1 time. 6th place was Si Tang. Si ran a 1:59.407 which was a full second faster than his October time. 5th Place was Ming ho Tsui. Ming ran a 1:59.373 in Red 3. Ted Park joined the Sub 2 Club with a 1:59.170 for 4th place. Matt Rojana took a podium spot at his first S2KC event. Matt ran a 1:58.702in Red 3. Second place and current Super Mod Class leader went to Chris Elders. Chris's compromised setup was good for a 1:58.213 in Red 3. Chris ran a :57 in Red 1 followed by a horrific traffic session 2. This put him deep in the pre grid for session 3. After going 4 off Chris gathered himself and set his quick lap just before the session ended. 1st place went to Dustin Dessero. Dustin's first street tire event saw multiple :57's all day. His winning time of a 1:57.351 took home top honors. Congrats to the Mod Class Drivers!
Last but not least was an appearance of an Unlimited car. Edward Kim was piloted the stunning Evasive built V3. This car was just in shake down mode and we hope to see it in action soon!
Big thanks to everyone who participated for braving the potential of mudslides and bad traffic. Its the 34 car fields that make these events so special. Also thanks to Speedventures for hosting a smooth event!
Next second to last event will be at Chuckwalla Raceway on November 22nd. Season Finale will be on December 5th at Streets of Willow with a post season dinner.
Please post up videos and pictures!!! Until next time....
