Default OEM Hardtop Defroster Question

Had a quick question. Bought an OEM Hardtop with out oem hardware. Decided to buy the FORBIDDEN-USA rear latches due to how ridiculously expensive the Honda rears are. Picked up everything else from Hardtopguy. So when from what I have read the drivers side OEM rear latch has a pressure switch in it that activates the hardtop defroster to be able to be use. Since I'm using forbidden latches, can i just cut off the 2 pin connector on the sub harness and wire in an a simple on/off switch to switch between the hardtop and softtop defrosters?

Hopefully I posted this in the right place.

Thanks in advanced.

Does the OEM latch have a pressure switch, I thought the plug is what activates the defroster?

From the limited amount of info I've been able to find, one end of the defroster sub harness plugs into a prewired socket behind the seats, the other end is for the pig tail from the top its self and the the middle 2 pin connector plugs into the drivers side rear latch. The only description of what the wiring in the latch is for that I have been able to find is from a reddit post. "For this purpose, the driver side catcher assembly has a pressure switch in it to detect when the hard top is installed, cutting the soft top circuit."

Never heard that before. I always thought it was the wire from the hardtop to the covered plug that activates the defroster. Does your hardtop come with the OEM pins at least?

I have the forbidden-usa rears.

Installed the hardtop this weekend so, I went ahead and wired it up to a 3 Amp on off switch and mounted it in the panel with the clothes hooks on behind the seat. I haven't gotten to test the defroster yet, but I did check it with to see if it was working when a multi-meter when I installed it. With the switch on (and the defroster on) I was reading ~12 volts at the plug for the hardtop pig tail and it dropped to 0 volts with it off.
