top tearing.

Billman from NY has a solution for this. Not sure if he has a dedicated write up for it though. Had something to do with filing down two taps on the frame of the top.

Anyone else have any info on this?

:knocks on wood: I have a new top, installed by myself. I ground down all edges that I felt were sharp. I have yet to develop any wears, but Its too new to know for sure.

Keep the suggestions coming.

As for the Syncromesh fluid, I try to recommend what's been used and proven to keep the factory warranty. This is why I didn't add it.

Well, its been used and proven by countless S2000 owners here, and it doesn't effect the warranty, fwiw.

i have the issue with the gears popping out from first and second sometimes 4th, do i just take it to any honda dealer if i have the "certified warranty?"

mine does the exact samething in 1st gear...pops out...really embarrassing cuz everyone thinks ur a bad driver when ur going through an intersection and it pops out and u end up grinding ur gears and rev'ing ur engine super high. Annoying as hell...any fixes for this yet?

Try different fluid and most likely a tranny rebuild or replacement.

Fwiw, Honda changed over 2000 components on the AP2, modifying everywhere it saw room for improvement or durability plus the appearance stuff. Many changes were to redress issues discovered in the first three years the S was in production.

why then are all cars in the united kingdom Ap1 even 2004+

First thought would be throw-out bearing.

Thanks a lot sir, I'm having trouble shifting when the car is cold, even though I give it 5-8 min every time I start the car in the morning.

Since some here are against Mobil 1 Synthetic, I think I may join that group. Just used it for the first time in my new S2K (new to me), and it's drinking a quart per week. I tend to drive spirited a lot, and stay in VTEC quite a bit. The car doesn't burn oil (no blue smoke, compression test is good). No oil leaks anywhere. Does this happen to everyone who uses M1 Synthetic? If so, what is the best oil for this car that won't "disappear" weekly? Thanks for the info ....

Dunno about everyone, but it's pretty common, especially for AP1s. I've spent a lot of time researching that problem and I think it actually has more to do with the PCV valve than Mobil1 (although Mobil1 supposedly eats up timing chain tensioners). My research concluded that AMSOIL is the best motor oil for our cars (and probably the most expensive, too unfortunately) and that upgrading to an AP2 (2004/2005 model) valve cover with the revised PCV valve design should reduce oil consumption.
