V8 S2000 - Alabama Edition
What's up guys?
You're probably already familiar with xyster's awesome build, and perhaps the LS7-powered S2000. Well, I figured it was about time I started a thread here for mine as well.
Hinson Supercars are still hard at work on the car. It was delivered to Hinson's shop in April of '09. The goal: develop an all-inclusive retail kit for swapping the LSx into an S2000. It's been a while, but I'm happy to say that goal is finally a reality. The kit will be available very soon!
My car's "final" build began recently after the pieces for the kit had been finished. I delivered the cabin portion of my hardtop this past Friday so they could begin measuring for the roll cage. I took a few pictures of the work in progress while I was there:

Basics:
'06 LS2 stroked to 402ci (~6.6 liters)
T-56
Ford 8.8" rear
Turbonetics T76
I'll still have a LOT of work to do to get the car close to my overall vision of it being "finished," but this powertrain swap is definitely the most important and in-depth piece of the puzzle. I'll keep all future updates relegated to this thread... stay tuned for more!

700-750 with moderate boost is about as far as I'll want to push it for a while. The engine build and turbo should be capable of a good deal more than that, but I'm not sure how much punishment this differential can take yet.

This is going to be crazy. If it still handles like an S that is.

Certainly won't handle the same under throttle application, but I'm very optimistic about the weight distribution. Honda's envisioning of the car as a "front midship" vehicle was very beneficial for that. Our passenger compartment is closer to the rear wheels than the front, so there's a good deal of space between our firewall and the front strut towers. It just so happens that with the T-56 lined up with our stock shifter position, the front of the LS2 block ends at the front strut towers. Considering the remote-mount turbo as well, a good deal of this swap's additional weight lies behind the front wheels.
Compare the engine placement in an LS-swapped RX7 to its placement in the S2000 relative to the strut towers:
Looks much more ideal in the S, eh?
I'll get the car on corner scales when the guys at Hinson's shop have finished the cage.

Ummm... with that much HP, who cares about the diff? How are you going to get traction to the wheels?
