Hi people as you can see this is only my second post but hey you gotta start somewhere. I am thinking on buying a new set of rims soon and was just wondering what size people put on their s2000's? I know they come standard with either 16" or 17", but from the pics i have seen on here they look a lot bigger??? It might just be because a lot of the cars are slammed on coilovers? I want a nice set of wheels that compliment the car, but dont wana look too bling and big. any suggestions on wheels/sizes would be appreciated. thanks

i think the majority of people have 17's on their cars. I have an ap1 and i went up to 17 inch wheels. it all depends on your preference, i think the tires look too fat on 16 inch wheels, so i have 17's and it filled my wheel well better, no rubbing, and looks more "flush". theres plenty of picture threads... i vote TSW Nurburgrings! or interlagos! lol both are affordable and very strong material.

if you wana go faster... get 14 inch rims. it calculates to a higher effective gear ratio.

17x9 in rear and 17x8 in front with an offset higher than +55 and you should not need to roll your fenders yet still maintain a fairly aggressive look.

Most of the track guys run 17x9 all around with +45 offset on RPF1's but it requires fender rolling and some aggressive camber.

having the 17x9 +45 RPF1 setup i'd say it was mild camber and not aggressive, but it really depends on how low you want to go.

I had the same question. I ended up going with OZ Ultraleggeras. I did 18x8's in the front and 18x9's in the rear and got them from TireRack. Offset worked very well with the S2K w/o modification at stock height. For tires I chose 225/40/18's on the front and 255/35/18's on the rear. This tire combo looked fine in the front, but there was a bit too much gap in the back. The next set of tires on the rear were 255/45/18's and these did rub a bit but looked awesome. I relocated the bumper tab and trimmed the plastic fender a bit, and that helped. Rears were significantly more burly than the fronts and this really emphasized the staggered look. I think 255/40/18's will end up being the best of both worlds, but I haven't tried these yet.

Instead of running tires that change the speedometer, odometer and gear ratio you should lower your car. It will take away the wheel well gap, make the car handle better and all the things I mantioned above will be correct again,

Interesting observation: 18' rims with 225/40's in the front and 255/35's in the rear is very close to the stock AP1 outer tire diameter. Just increases the rim/tire ratio.

Yes you dont want that though. As Jim mentioned it will throw off your speedometer. A 245/35/18 and 245/40/17 is roughly exact same diameter, which is what you want.
