Default Federal 595 RS-R

Lots of good information here on these tires, and how they compare to RS3 and StarSpecs...

I just seem to never hear any of our local crew running the Federal 595 RS-R. Is there a specific reason why?

Because you can't get them any longer.

And I did run them before.

What did you think of them? I have never heard any opinions on these really.

My friend has been finding online shops that seem to be carrying them. Are they legit unavailable/discontinued at this point? We were considering trying to drum up enough interest for a group buy if people really wanted them. Maybe that idea is impossible.

They were good for the price. Excellent grip on par with any of the top tier street tires. Softish sidewall with a lot of slip angle which makes for a forgiving tire at the limit, but that translate into steering vagueness.

Has your friend actually call and verified they have any in stock? When I tried to get a set about 2 months ago, I was told no distributors locally had them and there was no restock ETA.

Browsing through that thread a bit more, there seems to be multiple instances of people getting pretty bad tearing with the Federals. I am really interested in seeing how the oddly sized tires on his car hold up. I would stick to the Star Specs as they seem to be the best bang for the buck overall street tire. Or fire up the credit card and get some AD08's

Maybe in 5 years or so we might see these in the U.S. . . bunch of jerks http://tyre.dunlop.co.jp/tyre/lineup...er/direzza/z2/
EDIT: Actually not so bad - http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.p...9&postcount=14

He has not called to verify. I'll have him do that, but also mention your availability issue.

R-S3 are the best bang for the buck IMO since they are considerable cheaper than SS.

Z2 should be arriving Q4-Q1. They are guestimated to be around the same price as Z1's and Tire Rack will have the exclusive distribution rights on them. This means they won't be cheap.
