Ohlins DFVs w/ NEW "R" Option! & TTX, Essex/AP BBK & Lightest Vented Rear Rotors
#72
I have a question regarding spring rates on the TTXs. Are the recommended spring rates good for a square 4x255 R compound tire such as BFG r1 or Toyo rr. This setup would also include a considerable amount of aero (big wing/splitter). Also can you tell me why there is a F/R spring rate stagger.
My car was set up with Tein SRC and I haven't been following the devopment of the TTX for the s2000. I'm in the market for a mid to top tier track only setup but worried that there would be compromise for those that want factory tire stagger, street radials, and want compliance for the streets.
Thank you

Spring rates needed to support 255, R Comp and Aero, would be 14K minimum and most likely 16 to 18K. Really need something stiff to counter act your advanced grip and aero forces.
We always recommend a spring stagger for a 50/50 Weight distort car with RWD.
The increased front Spring counters the cars dive during heavy braking limiting the overloading of the front brakes. It is always better to brake with 4 wheels vs 2. We reccomend some rear brake options to prevent the solid rear discs from overheating.
The reduced rear spring is helps the car squat accelerating out of corners which allows RWD cars to get traction sooner. If you had AWD or 50/50 springs would be more ideal.
As far as comfort, it is not always about the springs. Dampening really has a factor in ride comfort and that is why the DFVs feel more compliant than stock, even with 2X stiffer than stock.
With the TTX, they have a really wide adjustment level and putting them near full soft for daily driving they are really plush even with 2X stiffer than stock. With your spring needs being .3X stiffer than stock. Even with good dampening characteristics, the Springs will feel harsh.
If we can pair with the some good roll bars, then we can go down a few KG but you still will need some stiffness to counter act your downforce.
I hope that helps, URGE

URGE,
Thanks for the reply and additional info. I have been on your site have been considering many of the options that you guys offer. Really happy to 2 piece rear rotors finally available. As far as spring rates, 16-18kg sound more like what I was expecting to see for such a high end race set up too. I need to evaluate all my options, but maybe TTX is in my near future
