2008 Apex Blue S2000 Club Racer Just Sold on Bring A Trailer
Apex Blue may go down as the best color for the S2000.
During the last couple years of production, Honda graced us with a special edition of the AP2 called the CR (Club Racer). With improvements to the body and suspension, the CR was the track ready S2000 we had been longing for. Starting with the exterior, an aggressive front lip spoiler immediately catches the eye along with the GT-like rear wing. The suspension was also tweaked with stiffer springs and re-valved dampers all around. A larger diameter rear sway bar had also been added. The steering was also fitted with a quicker ratio rack down to 13.8 from the standard 14.9. Weight is also down thanks to the deletion of the powered soft top which was replaced by a removable hardtop. All these modifications created a near-perfect S2000 you could drive to the track, do some hot laps, and drive back home in.
This particular CR in the beautiful Apex Blue Pearl on Bring A Trailer is 1 of 200 and also 1 of the 699 CRs ever to be produced. Being the second owner, the seller acquired the car 3 years ago when it had around 79K miles. The car currently shows 89,139 miles on the odometer, relatively normal for a 9-year-old car that hasn’t been locked away in a garage. The car remains mostly stock minus the clear bra and Pioneer head unit. A clean Carfax report along with a clean New Jersey title will be included with the car. Manuals, spare keys, and recent service records will also be included.

As expected the overall quality of the exterior is in great condition with the exception of some rock chips here and there on the front end. Though the clear bra did help reduce front end damage, the headlights suffered minor cracks due to excessive heat. All body panels seem to be original from the factory according to the seller. Two of the wheels did suffer from minor curbing and all four still retain OEM spec Bridgestone Potenza RE070 rubber.
Taking a look inside, a pair of Alcantara/cloth seats can be found in place of the usual leather seats found in the standard S2000. The yellow inserts add a nice bit a flair in contrast to the Apex Blue. The driver side seat does show some wear on the bolstering. As mentioned earlier, the only modification done to the interior is the Pioneer head unit.
The F22C1 appears to be untampered, showing all the stock components still in place. The seller notes that the oil was changed about 5,000 miles ago using Amsoil motor oil and that the clutch will need replacing once past the 100k mark as expected.
At the end of the auction, the CR ended up selling for $24,000 after 20 bids. Seems fair in our opinion. Thoughts on the CR? Let us know on the forum!
