Default 10 MPH pull over

10 miles per hour Pull over.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today was a very bad day. Very very bad...

I could make this post a mile long telling everyone why it sucked so bad but I won't do that, but everyone has these days so come into this post understanding please...

Work was very long and very bad, the freeway was closed which turned a 10 min commute into an hour one while getting lost on 3 side streets, tried to get around 3 accidents just to get home. Everyone has these days.

After getting home and changing(I don't even work on the weekends, I was picking up an extra shift as a favor), I went out to get a quick meal, 2 of the places I drove to were closed for no apparent reason. Place 3 F****D up my order. Whatever. Heading home on a 4 lane street, turning left onto MY street, 2 lane wide turning lane. Car to the left TAKES OFF burning rubber around the turn(a V6 Mustang but I digress). The ONE car in front of me waited for about 45 seconds before going, then decides to navigate the turn at about 5MPH. I follow. (there are NO cars behind us at all) I finally can't take it anymore. I pull around the car in front of me, signal left, signal right, back into my original lane. Thank god I am on my way home with no one else to deal with.

Flashing lights.

I pull over.

Unsafe lane change and changing lanes within 100ft of an intersection.

My ticket STATES I was going 10MPH. TEN MILES AN HOUR...

My fine for the 2 items is....................

$386.00

There is not enough sand in all of Arizona for me to bury myself in...

I wonder if the law has recently changed because there use to be no citation for Unsafe lane change. About 7 years ago a police officer pulled me over for Illegal lane change then he came back from his car and wrote the ticket up for speeding.

I was told by the Judge there is no citation they could issue for unsafe lane change. I'm in mesa and maybe something is different if you are in a different city. Or maybe that law has changed.

Sorry to hear that. You should talk to the judge they may let you go to traffic school for the whole thing. Assuming you have not gone in the last 12 months.

i would plead your case... you are in a sports car... and 10 mph is plenty safe for almost any vehicle...

It sucks. A lot. But you will lose in court.

Your ticket wasn't for speeding, that is just a requirement on the ticket that the officer indicate your approximate speed.

I am not sure what he felt about the lane change was unsafe (you signaled) but citations like this are usually at the discretion of the officer. Also I have heard "rumors" that the '100-ft from an intersection' statute has been revised to state that it must not create a dangerous situation, but I really don't know what ARS on this states now.

Either way, the courts put the burden of proof on YOU (civil) not the officer (criminal). You might try calling the court to see if you can have one thrown out and take class for the other.

Sorry, though, that really is a total nightmare.

...
Well, I gotta put my 2c in.
Don't take the ticket personally, AND, it is not the end of the world.
Go to court and plead your case in front of a judge. Be super cool and you'll most likely get some money off.
Don't have the attitude that the police were out to get you... even if it appears that the "MAN" was. Just give your story; your defense, to explain that you are not a raving lunatic, but just trying to get to work. Just the facts. Forget emotions.
Police are harsh on younger drivers. Period. Been there, done that!
Be honest with the judge. Plead your case, and you should get some discount.
