2005 events?!
I like the Jerome idea. The drive up Mingus Pass was exceptional! I'd also REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like to see Kartchner whenever works best as far as everyone and planning. I would even be willing to help pull it together if advanced reservations are required.
My thoughts...
I went thru Mingus Mts. over Thanksgiving and there was lots of snow and some ice (ugh). Might want to wait on that one until later on?
Sedona strikes me as car friendly BEFORE the major tourist season gets rolling in spring and summer. We could come up the backside thru Prescott, eat a nice (i.e. $$) lunch in Sedona, then go up Oak Creek Canyon and the switchbacks. At the top we can go on to I-17 and back home or turn around and go down again.
Also Lake Havasu sounds like fun - the club hasn't been there lately (at least not when I was around).
Moab, UT is a great area but would require a long weekend. It has Colorado river rafting, Arches and Canyonlands Nat. Parks (you can DRIVE thru Arches!) and so much more. Monument Valley is somewhere nearby?
North Rim, as always - we need to pay ahead for that and let Dave do his thing. maybe we can get spring 2006???
We haven't done much driving in the Navajo Nation. There are some things we might be able to do on a day drive, like the Hubbell Trading Post. There's not much in the way of speed control up there but the road hazards are unique (goats, sheep, etc.). The NE part of the state has vast areas - good for fun drives.
Must do annual Devil's - it's the best of all.
My $00.02,
Lauren

jordan, i have 3 1/2 weeks off coming next week. one of the items on my agenda is to come up with something original in this area to go and do with some nice roads and scenery. i've been promising you something for too long and not delivered, so you'll see it by mid-jan for sure.
