Default Alignment Check

Does anyone know if there is a place in town that will actually do a free alignment check or does such a thing not exist ?

I had called one of the dealerships and they said the test drive wouldn't cost but if they have to put the car on the rack then there would the same charge as an alignment.

Thanks,

I use Network Alignment to do my alignments cuz their reputation (from what i've heard) is quite outstanding. Anyhow, what they did before they actually gave me a quote was throw it up on the rack to see if it needed an alignment. I can't remember if they charged me for the diagnostic or not, but I would say shoot them a call and see what they can do.

Mind you though, this was like a year ago so my memory is a little foggy about the details.

Thanks I will give them a call. Since you have had your alignment done does your car drift at all to the right. I notice that is what mine is doing. I only have 8100 miles on mine.

Thanks,

My alignment, since I went to Network Alignment a year ago, has been virtually flawless. My car (due to my sticky tires i think) tend to grip the road to the point that it will follow almost any groove i come across. but when im on nice straight roads, i go dead straight for at least a good 1,000+ feet before i gradually start going to one side or the other.

It might depend on how dramatically it drifts to one side? if its not that dramatic it might be the roads. Most roads out here (including freeways), have very mild degree slants to the right to run off water. I'm told that the middle lane or sometimes the furthest left lane might not be slanted, but i dunno.

Network did mine after I changed the suspension but overall I think it was off from the start. I had huge understeer which would go into oversterr when you tried to correct. Make sure to take a copy of the numbers in the manual.

I took my car back to the dealer and they checked the tires and test drove it twice and then i drove it with the mechanic on the freeway.

The mechanic said what i have is simply a drift from the crown in the road. It takes about 9-10 seconds for the car to drift at high speeds from one lane to another and he said that is normal. He said they have owners that have the same thing with the civic si's as well.

Does this sound normal or should I get another opinion from a different dealer. I think the integra i had owned before did something similar but I wasn't sure so maybe its been like this all along and I just reallly didnt notice.

There is "no pull" but rather a slight drift. Anyone else notice this ?

If the mechanic said it was ok and you can live with it, let it go. If it bothers you that much, go to Cesar. Sometimes tires cause this so if you wait until your next set or are getting new wheels soon, that should solve it.

Good point. I think it probably is the crown and I just never really paid much attention before.
