So I was running the 89 > 89a. Full road, starting in Wickenburg, ending in Flagstaff. The missus and I left early, cuz we wanted to eat in Jerome. So we get to Jerome, go eat at the Haunted Hamburger, then start to head out. Getting back in my mode to hit the last bit of curve, I start to push it once i've left the town (heading towards cottonwood). There were two cars in front of me, so I wait for the passing zone and floor it pass them, and kept going (didn't slow down after the pass)

I get to the first curve and take it nice and hard and slam the gas out of the turn. I look up in my mirror and see an all-white truck. My first gut feeling was that it was a cop; I had already passed all the cars, and were out of sight by the time I hit that curve. So for a few minutes, i just cruised at around 50 or so. After the cop didn't flip his lights or anything, I figured it was just a guy pulling out from a pull off (sight seeing or whatever). So I slam it............right in front of that truck. He was out of sight within seconds as I tore through the turns at speeds I prefer not to disclose. So i get to the end, come around the last corner at around xxish (speed limit at that spot was 50mph) and there was a cop sitting right there. Regardless of what that truck was I knew I was busted with this cop, AT THE LEAST.

so I, before the cop even gets onto the road, pull over, turn off the car, and throw on the hazards. Cop comes up to me says "So there's back behind you that would like to talk you". my stomach jumped about 18 times. That truck was a cop and got to see the s2000 fully unleashed! God that was a stupid move on my part. So the truck cop finally caught up (a good 2-3 minutes after I was pulled over. They checked the usual stuff (license, etc etc). Then gave Audrie and I a scare by saying that I was going to jail for the night and towing the car. And the cop that actually pulled me over wasn't exactly friendly so his threat definitely seemed 100% genuine and I was somewhat freaked out. Finally after sitting in the car while they talked and did whatever they did for just over 25 minutes (yes, 25 minutes), the cop in the truck comes up to me and the following conversation took place:

Cop: "So I'm not going to tow your car, and you're not going to jail"
Me: "Thank you officer, I know you definitely can. I appreciate that"
Cop: "But MAN were you flying!!! It sounded really good too."
Me: "Heh, Thanks"
Cop: "So it doesn't look like you have many points on your license. I got you going xx in a 30, which WOULD be an instant 8 points for criminal speeding, and suspend your license for a year. But I'm not going to write you a ticket for that. I am going to write you a city ordinance ticket for failure to obey signs, which won't show up on you license. So I'm cutting you a deal here"

So we went through the signature of the ticket, etc etc etc. Then I said "Thank you officer, have a good day". He said "You too, take it easy out there".

So.......................I was luckier than hell that I got a nice cop that was either seemingly impressed with the car, or could tell that they shook us up with the jail+tow threat. Either way, phew, I am so grateful that cop let me off how he did.

Funny thing, as I was pulled over, I saw two s2000s go by and point at me. One blue and one yellow, cruisin together. Heh.

Before you go spending any more money modding the car, pick one of these up. I did a 1500 mile trip last week all around California. It saved my ass 4 times on that trip, and 2 of those times were with laser.

Ya I love the 89..........very much, one of my personal favorites. But when I run it, I run it all the way, so it takes 6 hours up, 2 hours down (taking i17). I usually make the full trip on a tank in a half, if i fill up right before I leave the valley. But getting the time to do that, as well the extra cash makes this a somewhat rare privilege.

The last time i bought a lottery ticket, they asked ME for 1.2 million i lost so bad!!!!! HAHAHA. I'll stick to my luck on the road! More immediate gratification that way.
