Nice day for a local cruise around southeast Valley. Thanks to Nick for joining me and letting my brother ride with you this morning. He really enjoyed it.

A spin on turbo tech...maybe some ideas for street use.

That's an excellent explanation - I wondered how they were getting such an advantage on track!

Those margins have been RBR-esque this year. Aside from the cooling and ducting, I wonder if the inertia of the connecting rod in between the two helps keep the turbo rpm in range when the throttle is off (less lag?), freeing ERS for use elsewhere?

Hoping that Honda's got something in the works to make an impact right away next year!

I would guess that the larger shaft b/t the two could sort of act like a Flywheel which stores energy but the mass is very centralized around the rotating axis. They probably increased the weight of the compressor wheels as well to ballance the turbo. There might have been a loss in acceleration of the turbine, but the ability to make the air more dense and locate it closer to the inlet, positively offset it enough for gains. The reduction of Aero Drag is pretty big as well. Every tenth of a percent advantage matters at this level.

All the racers knew that putting turbos on the cars was going to open up a can of worms with regulations and keeping things remotely even in the power department. Looks like it's becoming a reality. Kudos to the MERC Engineers for landing the first blow!

I was thinking if we could apply this to the NSX V6 to have less piping.

Overnight parts from Japan Germany.

I believe the engine needs to be laid out longitudinal and not lateral like the NSX is.

I'm sure their intake manifold is super crazy.

Right but I'm saying it would not work for a 4 cyl.
You can run a shaft through the middle between the intake somehow maybe.

On a diff note, I hope Honda can match the tech and bring the fight to them next year with McLaren.
