Unhappy Countdown is on....

Well guys,
I have 5200 miles left on my S till it is out of lease "paying for going over on miles", warranty is up then, and I am not interested in purchasing.

I need to start saving up some cash to put down and need to start shopping around for a new car.

I am going to try really hard this time to stay under $30k but still get something nice.
Leasing again so looking for something with a fair residual too...

Any ideas or suggestions?

TIA

If you need to lease something new than an RSX is about the only other car I would have that will keep you under $30k and it is still a very fun capable vehicle. If $30k is more of a range than a final number then you have to go EVO (MR if can pony up a bit more $$). I take car selection very personally so it's tough for me to help without knowing you. My last car was a 3 series, you can't go wrong there and the lease rates on the 325's are pretty attractive right now. What about the S keeps you from wanting a new one or buying out yours?

Test drove a new 04 S and did not like it at all compared to 02'...
Unless I got one for dealer invoice there is no way I would buy one

As far as buying out my S, well it has been beaten pretty well from my driving habits so not a good idea...

The RSX is not bad.... I did check out the 05' and they boosted the HP to 210 on the type s and did a few exterior mods.... not a bad car at all for the money

Also was thinking of going to test drive a 350z but you know I see about 20+ of those a day on the street and I dont want a car everyone and their brother drives

I guess a 2005 Mustang is out of the question for you then, it will be all over the place in the next 3 weeks.

OMG I bet it will be!
and the creepy Ford dealer will have a steep markup on them just like they did with the Thunderbird....

Wouldn't go with a mustang though just simply because of the cost to insure it

It is cheaper to insure a mustang cobra than an S2000.

Pontiac G6? Oprah likes that car.

-edit: title fixed, said coundown

I don't know about the residual, but you can purchase a new GTO for $26000 to $27000. I test drove one a coupla weeks ago and had a blast. The 04's are kind of plain looking, but I think that less than 10,000 have been sold. I have yet to see one other than at a dealership. The 04's are RWD 6 speeds, 350 HP/~350 ft-lbs and get 29 mpg on the highway 22 around town.

The 2005's are going to have 400 HP/400 ft-lbs, and will be a bit more demonstrative than the 04's. That may kill the value on the 04's, but in a few weeks you should be able to get an even better deal on the 04's.
