The Da Vinci Code
The Da Vinci Code is a great work of FICTION, that's it. Why is everyone reading so much into this? It's not real people, get over it. Sure there are real locations and maybe a couple actual events, but this is a fictitious story with imagined characters and events. It's "War of the Worlds" (not the Tom Cruise version) all over again.
The movie isn't even that good. Tom Hanks should stick to his strength, dialogue with volleyballs. Angels & Demons would have made a better transition to the silver screen. There's a lot more action and less Brown's History 101.
I'm sure no one agrees with me, I just needed to vent.
Dan Brown is a genius and the most famous New Hampshire export since Velcro, or at least the Segway.

ive read both books. they are both great reads. obviously the books story is untrue, but he does point out some facts about the church, and gives everyone something to consider...the church has done messed up things in the past, and nobody can deny that. i am a christian, a catholic to be specific, and even i can admit its made many mistakes.
wow, i cant believe how much attention this has brought up but it was expected. It is a very touchy and sensative topic. Regardless wheather is fiction or not. When people who live their lives based on their religion its hard not to feel insulted.
Im not a christian, and this is comming from a non biased point. Whats happening is a lot of events through history has happend which there is a lot of referance to, such as the events in the bible ect, groups of organizations ect which this story calls on to alter and or support what this movie is implying.
We do know it is just a movie, but if ones belief is that of a faith that is being smeared accross the wide screen and told that what they believed in is faux, then like i said before, expect alot of people to be upset from those who will simply just not go to watch the movie, or the far extreme who will even go out to picket against the movie.
We will all express ourselves the way we know best. Personaly i will go and watch the movie, because I respect the religion, I will never be blinded by what public or society thinks of things to alter my decision when it comes to a god or my religion.

I do consider myself religious, though not necessarily devout in any respect, but I have some MAJOR issues with the bad press the story has gotten.
I find it alarming that so many people found more faith and answers from a work of fiction by Dan Brown than they did from a work of fiction by King James. OOPS. Did I just call the BIBLE FICTION? Hmm.
Let me sum it up in this way. My wife's family are devout Methodists and likely will be for life. She on the other hand, began questioning religion when she was 6 years old, and here's why... we have documented, scientific evidence of the existance of a large species of creatures we know as "dinosaurs." By carbon dating we know these massive creatures roamed the Earth for thousands of years before finally being extinguished by an ice age. After class one day, she asked her parents why there is no mention of the dinosaurs in the bible. They had no answer.
Dan Brown is not the first person to question religion. Scientists have been persecuted for it for centuries.
I have no issues with religion itself. When faith leads to hope, good things happen. When faith leads to dependance, we are lost.
