Default De-ionized water filter

I was thinking about getting this:

costco

My main concern is what kind of yield you get. I don't want to invest in this if it has to be recharged constantly.

Thoughts?

oh it says right at the bottom man...

go get a bucket, and fill it up, see how fast you use 10 gallons with your sprayer. Don't forget to report back how long it takes to fill 1 gallon with a sprayer

Expected Yield:

Input TDS Level Expected Yield (# of Gallons)
50 ppm 1600 gallons
100 ppm 800 gallons
200 ppm 400 gallons
400 ppm 200 gallons

Yeah I read that. I was hoping someone with experience could advise. Anyone know what 708 mg/l translates to in ppm?

mabe just get a pump system, and get jugs of water from the grocery store. lol 5 gallons for 70 cents. so $14.00 for 100 gallons, how much are the filters for that system?

Deionize water? This is still the placebo fad I do not understand and my recent college chemistry class and professor laughed at the idea for the idea of drinking water that has been distilled and then deionized? I know slightly off topic from the OP's idea but still a good chuckle.

Deionization
Deionized water, also known as demineralized water[2] (DI water, DIW or de-ionized water; can also be spelled deionised water), is water that has had its mineral ions removed, such as cations from sodium, calcium, iron, copper and anions such as chloride and bromide. Deionization is a physical process which uses specially-manufactured ion exchange resins which bind to and filter out the mineral salts from water. Because the majority of water impurities are dissolved salts, deionization produces a high purity water that is generally similar to distilled water, and this process is quick and without scale buildup. However, deionization does not significantly remove uncharged organic molecules, viruses or bacteria, except by incidental trapping in the resin. Specially made strong base anion resins can remove Gram-negative bacteria. Deionization can be done continuously and inexpensively using electrodeionization.

"Deionization does not remove the hydroxide or hydronium ions from water. These are the products of the self-ionization of water to equilibrium and therefore are impossible to remove." this is the point at where this spray was instructed to be added to drinking water to remove "free radicals"

My knowledge as a chemist is rathe limited, but according to her bottle, if you deionized water, in theory you would be left with hydrogen and oxygen and not water, but this isnt the case.

I know off topic, but some health food fads are rediculous.

With a Reverse Osmosis system, you would be getting alot more soft water for your money. An economically superior idea to deionization of minerals from the solution.
