Default Dropped Oil Fill Cap

I was topping off my oil this morning and when I went to replace the oil fill cap, it slipped out of my fingers and fell into the engine bay. It's not on the garage floor and I tried feeling around for it with no luck. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Does anyone have any idea of where it might be and how I can retrieve it?

Thanks,

It's sitting on your transmission, sandwiched between the frame of the car.

I wonder if I need to roll it out of the garage so I can jack it up? I don't want to start the engine. Would I be able to access that area if I get under the car?

Only sensible solution is to install lowrider hydraulics and shake it out.

In all seriousness though, you should jack it up and see if you can fish it out from underneath.

That area is the equivalent to the Bermuda triangle. You are not the first and you def won't be the last, lol. You MIGHT be able to get maybe a hanger and bend it to fit in between the valve cover and the firewall. If not, just go buy a new one and when it comes time to do your clutch, you'll be able to get it out then.

Anyone tried to use compressed air to blow it out?

I would still suggest a coat hanger from underneath the car. This same thing had happened to me before with a Z32. I lost a wrench on top of the transmission case and I was able to fish it out.

3en fixed me up with a replacement cap the other day, and I drove it tonight. I didn't get down the block before I had to check out the weird rattling noise. I'd forgotten the cap was down there when I started driving and the rattle had me pretty worried. I'll try to find a metal coat hanger and work on it tomorrow.
