Evans Tuning
I have had this happen, and coming from both a retailer and customers point of view I understand you are upset. they should have apologized and did what they could to make it right. there is less than 15 dollars margin in the part depending on how much they buy it for and overnight shipping would have cost more than the margin in the part.
They had a advertisement which was incorrect, they gave out the wrong information when Landon called to verify that the advertisement was in fact what it stated it was, and they did nothing to rectify the solution once the problem was presented. I don't care who you are, that's piss poor customer service.
If they would have resolved the incident not only would they have made an already repeat customer happy, you can bet your ass that customer would have been singing their song for everyone else to hear.
He not mad that he didn't get free parts. He's frustrated because he saw a deal, called and verbally confirmed that deal, made a purchase due to that deal, and then received less than he was expecting. He then tried to deal with the vendor to resolve what they told him and they aren't being a help. I'd be pretty irritated as well.
Taking his money elsewhere and sharing his experience is the best way to show them he is pissed. I wish more people locally would do this. We could have saved several new'ish members from the asshattery at Vivid.
I understand your point, if it was me I would have just given him the missing part at cost and did what I could to correct the problem but he didnt order the parts from me though he never asked me about these parts just the valves and clutch. Bad business spreads much more quickly than good business unfortunately and with so many different retailers I would think a larger company like Evans would understand that and do what they could.
I like to deal with you local guys first where I can and the transactions benefit us both, I trust you guys like family and know you are men of your word and solid business men.
Ive placed the rest of my aftermarket upgrades with RealStreet, although some of the locals did offer good terms, realstreet gave me a package deal that I simply could not walk away from.
I think the only items I need for my build now are afew OEM parts and the AEM Failsafe, other than that im GTG!
Cant wait to see the bawss post pics of my newly built head.... Ferra dished valvses, BC Dual spring w/ steel retainers, Bronze valve guides and so much sex!
yeah, they should have given you the parts at cost after noticing their error.
Kind of a related story but ending with a positive note for the customer. A friend of mine once baught a red 1998 Mustang Cobra for $12,500 back in 2002 which was a steal. The dealership meant to post it for $22,500 or something higher, I can't remember exactly. My friend went to buy it with cash in hand but they said no deal. He came back with a lawyer who sited that the ad did not have any verbaige saying misprints this or that and or prices are subject to change at anytime. Basically no clause or anything of the sort. Something to that effect.
The case stuck, and rather fast, and the car was his for the price of the ad.
IMO, the dealership didn't owe him anything and likely could have won the case with enough money spent on lawyers. We all make mistakes. It's just really rotten when you get overcharged for something and there's nothing you can do about it.
