Default Fluids

Hi AZ crew,

need to do ALL the fluids for my S and the wife's Odyssey. I have two questions....

1. Where do you guys go for HONDA OEM fluids? Online anywhere? (I am looking for the best price for Genuine Honda ATF, DOT3, Coolant etc for the Odyssey, and i am tired of San Tan's games with pricing)
2. Since I am changing out the Transmission fluid, diff, and Coolant for the S, do you guys recommend anything other than the Honda brews, or should I go with something more exotic? (Less worried about cost here, but still wonder what products to use, and where to get them for best value).

For what it is worth, I am stock motor and tranny.

Now for the bonus question....anybody tried to lower the thermostat on an 07? I heard that this is a pain in the ass, and could only be done with software...I have a J's fan switch I will be putting in when I change coolant, but would like to couple that with a lowering of the thermostat activation temp in prep for summer.

Before you tell me to use the search engine, first, it sux, and second, we live in a unique environ for cars, and I want the local opinion. Thanks for your help...

As far as OEM fluids, Ben (Chubby Ninja) works at Bell Honda and usually hooks us up.

1. I haven't really had issues with Honda dealership pricing on fluids. Been doing the DD Civic like this. Talk to Ben otherwise.

2. We had a huge thread about people's choices on fluids and you're never going to find agreement on this. I used to do Mobil1 10w30 but have switched to Amsoil AMO 10w40. For transmission, I've been doing Honda MTF but I'm going to try GM Synchromesh next to see how I like it. For diff, I use Almasol LE1605 from hardtopuy.com

3. Do not change your sensors on '06+. The fan switch is ECU activated and thermostat is not compatible or worth changing. There are no heat issues with stock setups to worry about. I tracked the car many times during 100+ degree summer days without a problem.

Hi Boofster and 1Fasts2k, thanks for the advice, stinks that I cannot use the J's fan switch/activator. I still think it would be nice if everything turned on BEFORE I hit the red light in July.... I am always a "cooler is better" guy, but nice to know the S can take it so to speak. Not sure they will take the switch back (xmas gift). Will try and sell it here, I guess. The issue I have with San Tan is that the prices are never the same (seems to depend who is behind the counter). I will contact Ben/Hardtop when I get ready to do all this.
