Hardly any dealers even have their own body shops anymore so good conclusion on ruling out the dealer.

When getting repairs done I would also recommend replacing both headlights. If you don't they wont match at all. They both wear down at approximately the same rate, and you won't be happy with only replacing one. I would push for this to be done if it were my car.

If you do manage to have them replaced, I know some one who will buy the two headlights off of you. He is only looking for the projector internals to retrofit onto a different car so the outside condition does not matter to him.

Let me know about this once your car is repaired and good luck.

If the insurance company puts up any fight about using OEM parts or anything like that, you have a right to get pushy. The car should be restored to "pre-loss condition." Which means exactly how it was, or better, than before the accident. If they're really being jerks, talk to your insurance company. I've heard of instances where the at-fault insurance wouldn't work with the "victim", but once the "victim" got their insurance involved things got settled pretty quickly.

If you're in the E. Valley, talk to Chris at Elite Automotive Finishes. He's done several SEMA cars, and a bunch of work for friends of mine. I've been lucky enough to not need body work since meeting him.
