Mini ride and drive - Phoenix
#41
This was a total blast for me - the morning group was mostly discouraged by the rain, so after about an hour, there were only about half a dozen diehards left, and they just let us keep running. I got to run all five cars. The original Minis were the best, as the clubmans didn't change directions as easily. I learned to compensate for the auto tranny lag by gunning it before the apex so that by the time I was headed in the right direction it started to accelerate. Once I got the braking zones down, it was really a nice flowing track. Flat-stick through the first chicanes was a lot of fun, and I think I impressed one of the instructors when I came around to find the first inside cone had been kicked out into the course by two feet and I was able to flick-steer around it without lifting. I gotta do this again!
