The monsoon season has turned out to be a crock this year.

I was watching the news this morning and they said last year we'd had 3.73" since the season began. This year...... .70"

I have a theory...
This area will continue to NOT get rain because of the following:
1. All rivers that would normally flow through the valley are dammed up.
2. Development has created a "heat island" in the valley and caused an updraft of hot dry air that diverts lower temp humid air around our area. Blacktops, concrete, dark clay roofs - all heat up during the day and release their stored heat at night and effectively divert rain bearing clouds around the valley.

Summers here will get near Death Valley temps as time and development goes on UNLESS we cool off our heat storage. What we should be doing is taking advantage of the solar energy to heat water, energize photo cells, and figure out a way to stop heat storage of other man-made open areas.

Think about this...
