Default Need a clutch...

Anyone selling a clutch or know of a good deal locally. In need badly of a clutch for our S. It is so bad now that if you push on it all you do is rev the engine. And the gas mileage is taking a huge drop. I have done 90 miles and am on 1/2 tank. Any info would be helpful.

Are you still under warranty? The drivetrain shouldn't do that if you are, and I don't remember you having any mods that would void that.

If not, you might check with Sprchrg, sometimes he can get things pretty cheap here locally for the S.

Unless you drive a lot you should be under warranty - you have a 2003, that's wacky.

I doubt youre under warranty. A clutch is a wear and tear item.

Not sure what you're looking for? Do you want a recommendation on a clutch installer? Clutch parts, or just general information on which clutch to install?

I had TSB 054 done at Earnhardt Honda in Avondale. As part of the repair I had a new OEM pressure plate and throwout bearing installed, in addition to the friction disk which was covered by Honda. Caesar is the tech that did the installation and is the designated S2000 tech at Earnhardt. The parts cost about $500 and the labor should be in the $500 to $700 range. I'm just guessing on the labor, because Honda paid for that per the TSB. Earnhardt and Caesar were fantastic to deal with and dealt with all my anal requests for a proper clutch install.

If you want an after market clutch, then you should do a search, there's a lot of info out there on clutches. I've got my old pressure plate, TOB, and friction disk. I had the TSB done at ~35,000 miles and the parts look good to me. So, if you're looking for a cheap way out parts-wise, you can have my old parts for $100. Of course you'll still have to deal with the labor for the install.

It wouldn't be wear and tear on a vehicle that is only 1 year old. That should be covered under warranty unless it is modified. That is not the normal lifespan for the clutch, and I would definitely fight it if they denied it. Especially if you are very low mileage say <10k...

WOAH!

A toasted clutch on a 03??

That's definitely not normal
You either beat the crap out of your car or there is something defective that would be under warranty....

Good Luck,

That was my fiance that made the original post. We have about 18,000 miles on the car now, and we do have a few mods done to the car so far. But she talked to the people at her work and they are going to warranty the clutch for her. So we will be okay now.
