Hey everyone - I have what I HOPE will be a straightforward question. Barring a last minute change of heart, I have pretty much decided to replace my soon to be off-lease '01 with another S
So...here is the scenario: I have found several leftover 2003s around the country that are "new" (i.e. never titled, still sitting on dealer's lots). Some (actually most) have very few miles on them, so I'm not too worried that they have been high-revved on joyrides or are in bad shape for some reason.
What do you think is a fair amount of $$ savings to make me go for an '03 that has been sitting for quite awhile vs. an '04 or possibly waiting for an '05? I have some idea of what I think MAY be fair, but I wanted some other input to make sure I'm not way off. Interestingly, I did get some pretty good offers for '04s as well (even though that wasn't what I asked for)
Thanks!
P.S. I don't want this to deteriorate into an 03 vs 04 debate - that has been covered ad nauseum, and I have my reasons for preferring an 03 at this point.

if i was in your shoes, it wouldn't be the money savings that would convince me. it would be finding the right color at the right price that wasn't a demo car.
off the top of my head, a price tag like $29k would prob get me to bite. just a bit below what you'd prob find for an '04, but i'm with you. i prefer the '03's. although i want that damn clock above the mileage!

What you really need to do is drive both. See if the '04 changes are something you would want to pay a little more for, or if the '03 is more what you are looking for. It is hard to say which one is right, until you try them both.
Good Luck. You won't go wrong either way in the long run!

Thanks for the opinions - I had already decided to go check out an 04 just to see for myself. It does appear that I can save a fair amount of money by getting a leftover 03 if I bought one...but since I'm most likely going to be leasing again, the cost differential may not save me much $$ at all since the 03 is technically a "used" car at this point for leasing, and the rates aren't as good.
To be continued...

Well, I drove an 04 yesterday. I felt that the differences were noticeable - smoother/softer ride, low-end torque improved. I do still prefer the "raw" feeling of my 01 at this time, but I think I could get used to an 04 after a couple of months. The wifey would probably prefer the 04 since it wouldn't beat her up so much on long drives...but it's still my car ![smile.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
In any case, the 04 still felt great, and I did like the overall aesthetic changes to the exterior and interior. We'll see...
