This morning the Raido would not turn on, and later today I started having the brake light, Turns out my alternator is Fried at 63,500 miles. Fortunatley extended warranty covers this. I do have an aftermarket amp and wondered will that reduce the life of an alternator ?

Seems a bit early to me, I thougth these normally went around 90-100k miles no ?

 

Lulz, you have the worst luck! At least it's still under warranty. My old alt was still working fine when I pulled the motor at 215k miles. I doubt your amp has anything to do with it. My car is mainly driven at night so I simultaneously use the headlights, radar detector, headunit, 2 amps, and whatever misc chargers I have plugged into the outlet and haven't had a problem.

 

I think the Honda gods just hate you.

At this rate I hope everything in the Car breaks before 80k miles because after that then there is no warranty LOL!

 

Excessive heat can kill the alternator as well. My turbo kit killed the alternator on my Prelude.
