Default Question on Amp

I know this probably goes in the Electronics section but I'm asking here because it also relates to AZ weather.

I am considering getting an AMP and was wondering if anyone ever has problems with them overheating in the summer time and shutting off ?

Also, will a more powerful battery be required giving the summer heat or anytime for that matter ?

I'm leaning toward the JL audio or Fosgate both with about 300 Watts I believe.

Thanks,

I run a 4 channel amp for my door and headrest speakers and a 2 channel amp for my sub. Both amps sit under my seats and have never over heated. I think if you ratchet the gain to the max may give you overheating issues but other than that I don't think you'll have a issue. Just a fyi... it all depends on what your driving compared to what's driving it. ( Speakers and Amps). I also have been using a standard battery with a stock alternator. Never had a issue.

get a fan cooled and decent sized amp and you will be perfectly fine. mine have overheated if I crank the tunes for about 10 minutes, but normal tune-age they work great. just make sure they are good amps with fans and you will be fine

I run the 500.1 in the spare tire spot. The insulation thing keeps dropping on it too. Never had any issues. Great amp

Hey if you have pics of an amp rack definitely upload them. I'm considering that vs hiding the amp.

I just wasnt sure if there was heat problems with the amp being in the trunk.

Thanks,
