Default Rotor Replacement

I just swapped my OE rotors out for Brembo flats and Akebono pads. It is like butter but I have a few questions. When water gets on the rotors they get this orange crap on them that usually gets ripped off by the pads. First question..Has anybody done this swap and noticed that the pad does not encompass the entire rotor surface? There is about an inch of surface that is not being utilized. (Purchased from Tire Rack specifically for an 05' S2000). Second question..Is there any miracle fluid that protects the rotor from that orange buildup and doesn't affect breaking performance?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the orange you are talking about is rust. My rotors get like this when I wash the car, but clean off once the brakes are used.

We get that on a lot of our new Camaros and Corvettes at the dealership. We just drive them around the lot for a few seconds and hit the brakes to clean it all off. No harm.

70 WT gear oil will keep the rust from forming. Good luck with stopping after that...
