Default Sad to say it

Well, this is pretty much my resignation. My S is down in Phoenix right now, up for sale, and I'm on a plane to Hawaii in a few weeks. I accepted a job at Nanea Golf Club (small private club on the big island, major baller status) and while I could take my baby with me, it makes a lot more sense not to.

Not that I won't be trolling here every now and then, but seriously the last year and a half has been a lot of fun. You are a good group to shoot the shit with, be it online or IRL, and a lot of fun to go drive with. Without being overly dramatic, I'm gonna miss a lot of you (not Lee though. The whole "ass grabbing" incident soured me on you. Sorry.) and if any of you are in Hawaii this winter drop me a line and well play some golf. Or get drunk on the beach, your choice.

Again, thanks to all of you. This was my first experience with a car club of any sort and its been a kick.

Thank brosef, I've been looking forward to this since last year when two of my buddies went. Honestly, if I didn't know someone who had already done it I'd think the whole thing was a scam or I was being sold into white slavery. A lot more money, a lot more playing privledges, working about 50% of what I do now, and they're putting us up in a condo, it doesn't suck at all.

And gauging a pro's teaching potential is tough. I took a long lesson with our director of instruction (he was just named teacher of year for the southwest section, dude knows what he's talking about) and truly it kind of messed me up for a few week. I'm now starting to come out of the funk, and poorly hit irons are going 15 yards further than well struck ones before and dead straight, which is nice to get away from the draw I've had for 5 years or so. A lot of it comes down to the student, I've been practing 3-5 times a week since my lesson, at least an hour a time, plus I have a good understanding of the golf swing, so that helps.

Best advice I can give you when trying to find a pro that will help you, make sure they're PGA Class A. That means they've got a working knowledge of the golf swing, and can look at what you are doing and help you fix it, rather than just trying to imprint one swing on everybody. And if someone is a band-aid guy (shows you little fixes that will help compensate for your swing flaws), take a sandwedge, hit him in the face, and run. He's not doing anybody any good.

Oh and yeah you'll probably see me in another S at some point. I started getting panic attacks cleaning her out the other day, pretty evident I'm not ready to give her up. But there's still the lack of storage for golf club bags, I'm told the Cayman can hold a few bags, as can an M3 possibly even an M Coupe, so I'm keeping my options open. For now I'm shipping my old 4Runner over there, and if I end up staying there year round I may pick something nicer/more fun up at that time.

Sounds like an opportunity of a lifetime, congrats.

I would love to move to Kauai someday in the distant future. We spent a week there a few months back and fell in love with the chickens. I didn't see a single s2k there though, and I think there's only one fun road on the whole island.

Haha, I was just about to ask about the wheels.

Enjoy Hawaii, sounds like a great job that not only pays well but also pays in lifestyle. Cheers!
