I have never understood the point of these. By the time the thieves are in your car ready to take the seats these locks are to late. At the very least they start damaging the rest of your car because they are pissed off they can get the seats out, or they use the box cutter they just used on your soft top to slash the hell out of your seats and dash. It seems like it would end up costing the insurance company more to repair the additional damage making your car more likely to be totaled out.

I don't think that is true Feezy. Yes they may damage the interior but then you are just replacing the leather on the seat not the entire seat which is the overly expensive thing. I doubt that a slashed top and some tears in the leather will total the car out and a good interior shop can re wrap them or just order the leather from the dealer which isn't cheap but it isn't the $4k that the entire seat costs (or whatever the total comes to) that causes the car to be totaled. Like I said in the thread it is by no means a 100% fix but it is a deterant and anything that causes a thief to take longer or think twice and go find another car is a good thing in my book.

Yes I have but they cost $65 shipped and some people have been having a hard time getting ahold of him. These are basically the same thing just a longer bolt and cost 1/6th of the price. Plus this may be a better option for those outside of the US that cannot get Kodokan's or they become way to costly due to shipping.

I figure that even if they destroy the covers, they don't get your seats and you can still drive the car until insurance takes care of you. Without the locks, they get a nice minty set of sets for their Civic. I have them in the yellow car, and wish I would have put them in the red car. Thieves are jerks!

Both of those are good points, I never thought about it that way. I just hope I never have to deal with that either way.

I think both ways on the matter. The locks will prevent my seats from most likely being stolen, and will slow the thief down. On the other side, I think it could just piss them off and they will slash my seats and maybe take the anger out on other parts of the car! I pray I never have to deal with theft, but if I do I still am not sure what is the lesser of two evils. I could totally see having seat locks, keeping my seats intact, but instead getting a ginormous dent in my door from the thief horse kicking it out of frustration.

Either way, for the review! I realize this is more about a review, then a thread about what is the best method to protect our car.

And again a big dent in a door is cheaper to fix than new seats. From what I have read the seats as a whole are one of the more expensive part of the caqr if you are talking about new parts. I think many forget that becuase a used set can be had for under a grand but if you are talking about new replacements from honda you are looking at a much higher cost.

Obviously the best answer is to always garage your car and be careful where you leave it to extended periods of time but you cannot protect it 24x7 so these are for that one instance that it "could" happen. Its really the same reason you have insurance on the car. No boby wants to get in an accident but in the event you do its there to help. Think of these as the same and really I rather pay $10-20 and never ever need them because no one ever messes with my car than have that one time happen and be stuck kicking myself for not having them.
