Default Soft top on CR

Has anyone seen that done? I was curious to know if it is possible to add a soft top to the CR?

Ha! Well I guess that answers the question

Is it bad from the idea of weight being added or because of the difficulty of doing so ?

First off the added weight defeats the purpose of removing it. Secondly the CR has extra bracing that would have to be removed to use a soft top. So again, it defeats the purpose. I really want a CR, but I can't live without the soft top. I have thought about going the CR route, and installing a soft top that would be used manually, and it would be possible to make new bracing that would allow a softtop to fit. SO yes it could all work, but is it really worth it, tough call. If you track the car, you would want to take the soft top back out, and I do not know how complicated that is.

Points well made. I was entertaining another S down the road and thought maybe I could get a CR, sell the hard top, use those proceeds toward a soft top.

I could care less about the weight or tracking. I was more concerned about the difficulty of installation and how good it would work, but sounds like that bracing makes things a bear to change.

If you arent concerned about weight or tracking, there is no point in owning a CR, unless its to own a limited addition car. In which case, it in a way depreciates the value of the car when altrered. No that isn't written in any book, but the most sought after collectable cars, are completely stock.

I am planning on doing more and more track days with my car, but I still can't make the commitment to losing my soft top. Realistically though, unless you track a completely stock car, a modded none CR will be faster.

The rear brace and the CR tonneau cover would have to be removed but other than that it should be easy to put one in. I see the convenience of this but I would rather have the go-fast bits so I'm removing my soft top asap.

If anyone wants to trade the CR bracing + cover for my soft top, I'm game. They cost about the same.

Where is that rear brace located ? Is it directly behind the seats ?

It is exactly where the soft top is stowed.
