Well shes not completely done just yet.
The tune is done, I kept it at a conservative boost level, I don't want to blow anything up right before the show. This project has been such a drain that if anything were to go seriously wrong I wouldn't make homecoming. Missing that show would absolutely kill me.
I picked her up yesterday afternoon from Vivid (yes Vivid, they have been taking good care of me from the beginning stages of the build it's only fair that I give them the opportunity to continue doing so. Besides they haven't given me any reason not to trust them with my car).
We spent some time right before evening rush hour to become acquainted with each other again on the beautiful highways of AZ. Even on the conservative tune she pulls hard and fast!!! Or maybe it's just because I haven't been behind the wheel of something that does 0-60 in less then 2 minutes. Either way it felt amazing to sit behind the wheel of an instantly responsive, and well built machine.
By no means is she the fastest or best looking car or s2k, but my dream to build a well rounded race inspired street driven car that began long ago is now a reality and that by far is the most important to me.
Now for the bad news....... I have 3 issues with the motor 2 of witch are easy fixes and the 3rd will be as well if my diagnosis is correct.
At about 3k RPM I hear a rattle coming from forward right side of eng compartment (highest pitch under load, still noticeable at idle around same RPM) that goes away at about 4k and up. I have 2 ideas as to what is going on here. 1st could possibly be that I need to check my valve clearances again and adjust as appropriate or my down pipe is rubbing on the exhaust manifold witch is causing the rattle. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated on this subject!
2nd I have an exhaust leak coming from that (not sure of technical term) egr routing plate above the exhaust manifold. As I don't have access to my repair manual, I'm not sure if that requires a gasket. If anyone knows off hand that would be awesome. When I picked up the head from the Machine shop it had been taken off of the head and placed in a bag with all H/W, so now I'm not sure what if anything was there sealing it or if I just need to make em a lil tighter.
3rd Small oil leak coming from the valve cover gasket on the rear corner, the gasket probably got seated a lil off. It's a brand new gasket so I doubt it's anything more serious.

I am not sure what any of that could be. If you need a hand tomorrow, I am of all day. Got some car projects in the morning, but should be done by noon.

All my $ on the rattles is the WG Dump Tube depending on where it's routed or the Down Pipe from the turbo.

On my ap1 at same RPM had simliar issues.

I guess I forgot one lil detail.
I had to bring the car back too the body shop so they can do all their finishing touches before we can say all the body work is done! So I won't have the car tomorrow. But I definitely do need your help with polishing up my exhaust tips. I currently have one that has the burnt Ti look and the other is all scuffed down. I couldn't for the life of me bring the polish back. I'll let you look at it too see if we can bring it back. If not I don't mind rocking the satin look.

Thank you I will check the dump tube area. Was it just because something was loose or rubbing?

Rubbing//Rattling. Nothing was loose for me.

Is your WG recirculated into your down pipe? Or just dumping to the ground?
