Tucson Thread!
Yup. My mechanic messed up. Wasn't my diff, it was my CV buckets. I had that harsh vibration during acceleration problem that is pretty common, only I was a lazy bastard and never got it fixed. Eventually, it wore out the CVs to a point of no return. So I'm kinda pissed at my mechanic, but whatever. People make mistakes, and he still saves me tons of money over a shop.
I sent the differential back to Puddydad once we fixed the CV issue and he's giving me a refund. His customer service and understanding has been 11/10.
I still wanna get that stupid diff fixed though, because that whine is pretty rough.

Were you able to swap them, or did you replace them?
Did you ever get to see them, how bad they were chewed up?
Mine started getting really bad around 108k - almost to the point I didnt really feel comfortable going WOT. When I swapped them, it was amazing how good it felt. Even better than before when it wasn't as noticeable, but it must have still been there.
Lol, how bad is your whine? What speeds does it whine the most at? Have you ever ridden in my car?
I haven't ridden in your car yet. I didn't actually look inside the CVs, although I do have them at home. They were too bad to swap though, because I couldn't even move. Had I swapped them, I wouldn't have been able to go in reverse.
My car has ~68k miles on it right now
I got new axles on it and it feels like there is a slight vibration around 40mph which kind of pisses me off. >.< I didn't go OEM which I regret. Although having spent 1200 on a diff I didn't f***ing need and needing my car asap, I couldn't really wait and get OEM CVs.
And that diff whine is shit. It is like exhaust drone that doesn't go away. Its not so bad driving around the city, but its unbearable on the highway. I gotta go top down or have really loud music if I'm on the highway or the whine just kills my ears.
