Default Tuscon area

The better half and I might be heading out to the Tuscon area late February, early March....

Was wondering what there is to do while we are there...

Like hiking, driving nice roads (will be in a rental ) that have scenery, good food, etc....

Don't mind driving 100+ miles to see some nice areas....

Let me know what you would recommend....

A few of the trails we are thinking of doing...

Bear Canyon to Seven Falls
Blacketts Ridge
Romero Pools - Catilina State Park
Hearts of Rock: Massai Point....

Anyone know if any of these are any good?

Any others you would recommend?

I would say Mt. Lemon is a good drive late feb early march. It'll be cold but not that cold. Gates pass is a fun road to drive on but not really that long. If youre thinking of going to catalina state park keep in mind that the pass is different from Mt. Lemon. One's a state park and the others a national park.

If you want good places to eat while you're here here's a few:

Lucky Wishbone
Bread and Beyond
Brooklyns Pizza
Frog and Firken
No Anchovies
El Guerro Canelo
Mi Niditos

Hope that helps a bit.

no matter what, if you are not from the southwest, please see the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. It is a zoo+museum of sorts, but WAY better than that, and you will truly have an appreciation for the sonoran desert prior to doing some hiking. I would liken it to something the smithsonian would put on if they did one about the desert. +1 for my lemmon drive.

Keep the ideas coming!

Otherwise I'll have to go to a bunch of bead stores with the better half!

That being said.... anyone know of any good bead stores? Wife loves to make jewelry!

Kitt Peak observatory - If you are already on the west side driving through Gates Pass to the Desert museum, it isn't that far away.
