Default VA Caverns

Trying to finalize the things we'd like to do and things we'd like to see on our VA road trip prior to SF07.

We're starting in Front Royal, heading towards "Val Country" Lynchburg, and the last couple of days we'll be in Waynesboro.

We'll see various sites from those areas. I've also found MANY caverns listed, not sure which ones are "must see"

Here's the list, if you have a minute, tell me what you think.

Luray Caverns
Skyline Caverns
Shenandoah Caverns
Endless Caverns
Grand Caverns Regional Park

So, for those of you who know the area, which of these would you recommend?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

The only one I have been to is Luray. It was quite impressive.

Luray and Endless Caverns would get my vote(s). If you have time, you may want to see Natural Bridge which is touted as being one of the eight natural wonders of the world. It is nice to see and the roads around it are really nice driving roads if you're fortunate enough not to get behind one of the blue-hairs or farmers in the area. Here's the website: Natural Bridge

Thanks! Luray is on the list. The Natural Bridge is on the list too! Maybe we can squeeze in Endless Caverns as we work our way south.

I've only been to Luray, and liked it a lot. There were some wonderful twisty roads in the area too

If you're talking about George & Laura, they didn't invite us! We're avoiding Route 95, so it would be out of our way even if the invite shows up before we leave.

I am half embarrassed to state that I have NEVER been to any of the caverns in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Therefore, I just wanted to let you know that I am not in a position to answer. I didn't want Lainey & Rick to think that I was NOT being helpful now that people know that I live in VA, and that Inva is NOT my last name.

We've been to Howe Caverns in NY and try to see the "nature tourist spots" when traveling. Time in the Shenandoah National Park is on our list too. Have you been there, Matt?

I think it's pretty common that folks often don't check out what is almost in their own back yards. Levi had never been to a gorge that we saw on a visit up to his neck of the woods in Summer of 2005.

While you do the nature tour, I think we will start south down in Williamsburg and work our way west.
