What do you guys think?
it does not matter not that s2ks are no longer in production. An engine is an engine, no matter what car it is in.
I hate to be negative nancy, but i would be happy to hear i am wrong...
Information 'could' be learned from a high mileage motor, but nothing that honda probably already knows. Also, you would have to have very specific/exacting details on how you drove the car over the past decade for the information to be valid.
Honda would have put tens of thousands of miles on s2k engines back in the late/mid 90, when they developed the motor, and hundreds of thousand more test miles in the past 10 years since it's been in production. In their testing, they probably run the motor non stop for weeks on end at very high revs.
multimillion/billion dollar budgets allow for such development research to give you the reliability you expect/want.
I think honda would be and is more interested in analyzing their race engines and cars. These motors are punished much worse that anything on a street.
the new acura commercials basically state just that... "ALMS is the testing ground for future acuras"

I have to agree with Averagejoe on this one, I'm sure Honda knows exactly how durable the engine is through extensive testing of there own.
It kind of reminds me of a story about my Grandpa, In 02 his 84 BMW 5 series that he bought brand new crossed the 750,000 mile mark, He was a salesman in LA. He sent pictures and a letter to BMW headquarters bragging up and down about there car.
They sent him a BMW hat lol

I just figured I'd throw it out there. Did you guys ever see that Married with Children episode where Al Bundy's car was going to hit 1 million miles? I guess that's kind of what I was hoping for.
The way I look at it is, what do you have to lose? Honda says no thank you. Maybe one night while your up late from drinking too much Coffee you could write something out about when you bought the car, how many miles, how you drive it, when you change oil, what type of oil, basically an outline of your cars life, with some pictures. Then try to mail it to Honda. See what they say, at least then you actually know and its not speculation.
IMO I don't really think they will care, its a 10 + year old engine, and I am sure they have tested it extensively, but it is still worth a shot!
