I had to gut and replace my whole door skin when it got dented, It was kind of a pain. The regulator itself isnt too bad at all.
Just go slow, and be careful not to break all the little plastic clips.

So is it correct that I have to take off the outer door handle assembly and the inner door latch?

No, I didnt use anything special. just screwdrivers and wrenches and sockets.
To be exact it was a 10 mm 12mm wrenches and 1/4" drive sockets and some pliers.

So I replaced my regulator and everthings fine now. One thing for anyone doing this in the future, you do not need to take off the outer door handle and latch like the manual says!
