Window Tint.
My buddy owns Creative Car Stereo up in Phoenix, and does all the "aftermarket"
(stereos, alarms, K40, etc...) installs for Phoenix Motors. He had a referral from Schumacher for a K40, and the car was tinted with a film by Hueber Optic. I could feel a noticeable difference in heat coming through the glass from that Benz and my S. Scgumacher charges $500.00 for a tint job, and Lance says the that Benz clientele "do think twice" about a charge like that. I want this tint. Have any of you heard of it, or know of any other place that carries it? I will definitely have the windshield tinted with that the next time I get a new one. I was very surprised with this tint, as well as a $500.00 price tag.

I have a special tint on my SUV, it is nearly clear, looks slightly green (from what I am told - color blind), but keeps the car much cooler than the darker tints. It also repels water much more than normal glass.
Not sure if it is the same thing.

Hey Jayhawker - looks like we have a mutual friend at Creative Car Stereo -> will have to talk to you about it in the near future...
As far as tint goes: I have never gotten around to doing the windows on my S. I do have several friends who have done theirs at a couple of places in the valley. I will try and find out some more information on what the options were, or if they may carry this stuff.

Do you know Lance at Creative? He was one of my groomsman.
Anyway, my buddy Joe tints for Shocase Honda, but I doubt he can get the stuff. He tints a lot of the VWs out at my place. A few times a year, we have a Windo Tint Day out here, and he charges $100 for any darkness, and $65 for the windshield. If I don't get this Hueber Optic stuff, I am gona add another layer of limo to windows. Lance and I have talked about building a glass enclosue in the passenger footwell with the Kicker 8 in woofer, just have to wait to see when he has time.

Pretty funny - it really is a small world. My brother (who has known Lance for awhile) introduced me to him when I moved out here a few years back. He has done several installations for me, and I'm glad Creative is close to one of my offices so I can get stuff done while I'm at work
If you have a tint day in the near future, let me know because I may be interested...

I just got my s tinted at Airpark Tint, they used a film called Quantum 19, excellent 100% metallized tint. Got all windows tinted. His name is Rick and it cost 250.00, he's also installing an M kit from Stongard today as well as the light protection kit from Stongard. I would highly recommend Airpark Tint!!!
All right guys. I have found out more info. on the tint. Danny's Car Wash is the distributor, and it is a ceramic coated tint, not metalized.
I am going to put this on the S in a few weeks. It's a $150 for the two windows. I will see if they will also do the windshield. I still can't believe how much heat this tint blocks. It is some pretty incredible stuff.
As for a tint day, I am awaiting word from a buddy on having another tint day. I am not sure what he will charge for the 2 windows and the back for those of you who glass. (I want a glass window so bad) For the cars it was $100 all the way around with any % you wanted. I am sure it will be minimal for the S though. I will keep you guys up to date on the Tint GTG, and when we have it.

Jayhawker,
I have heard of this stuff and the reviews are great!
It is widely used commercially on home and office glass.
Sounds like you are getting a sweet deal too... When I was looking to get my S tinted I remember it was over $200 for my three little windows..... Let us know how it turns out
