Windshield Replacement
I have a beautiful star-shaped crack in my windshield. I also have glass coverage on my auto insurance. Can anyone recommend the best place to have the windshield replaced? Should I trust the dealer, or go to an independent company (hey, 20 free dinners!)?
I had the driver's side window replaced on my previous car, and the glass felt thinner and more brittle than the OEM glass.
Thanks!

I had mine done (twice) at the insurance company's "preferred" site, which is SafeLite at Guadalupe & Kyrene. Wherever you go, take the car to the shop and request an experienced technician. At SafeLite, the manager does all the high-end cars. There's another place on Chandler where the owner does all these cars. Don't know about the 20 free dinners places.

I realize I'm a little late responding, but I've used Maverick Glass in Scottsdale and I insisted on original Honda glass as the replacement. I'm actually going to have my second replacement windshield installed on Monday and I'm using the same place and the same approach. Original Honda glass, only! I don't believe there is a choice on replacing the molding, since it gets destroyed when they pull out the damaged glass.

Don't use the idiots I did. They decided to locate the mirror in the incorrect position and I am forced to purchase a new mirror with the next windshield replacement. Sorry, forgot the name of the company I used.
Choose the company at your own risk and hope it isn't the one I picked.
