Default DC power plug

So, it seems the one Honda design that is sort of iffy is the DC power plug. I know plenty of people that have had their Honda DC plug pop out.

My S2k DC power plug popped out Sunday. Looking at it, it seems that they just have a metal sleeve that presses onto the outside of the plug, and that metal sleeve is what prevents the plug from coming loose. Anyone else have the DC plug come out? What have you done?

I am thinking of using a little modeling putty stuff on the sleeve when i go in and put it back together. Hoping that it will help keep it together, cause I dont want to have to do this again......

lol it is a fail on Hondas part. You would think by you having an 08 they would have addressed this.

nope, i know this happened to a friend with an old Civic Si, as well as with a coworkers Honda minivan.

I was just curious if anyone found a better way then just, for the most part, glueing the metal sleeve to the plug.

I push and pull plugs out of mine all the time... never had it come loose. So this is news to me.

You should replace it with a Black Wall Plate.

hmmm, your plug doesnt even feel a little loose? cause one guy up in Detroit that i know has a S2k checked his and told me that his felt a little loose. His hasnt popped out, but it does feel loose.

I was considering throwing it to the dealership and use my Honda wonder bumper to bumper $0 deductible warranty, but I have ran a USB cable in that area for my audio stuff, so I could see them saying that i stressed the sleeve or some crap like that.

Mine came out a long time ago and I have yet to do anything about it. I did a quick search and found these. Haven't read them all the way through, but see if these help:

well tonight i went in from behind the driver seat, and the steps i went through were the same for when i routed my usb cable into the glove box, which actually are very similar to those links posted. only problem is that i still couldnt get a great grip on the collar (you are just squeezing your hand/arm back in there) so, I was only able to turn it once or twice before it wouldnt turn anymore.... since i couldnt see anything i might have started screwing it on crooked or something. So, it is back on there, but still loose. If it pops out again, then maybe i will go the loc-tite route.
