In marero doing tree clean up. The guard basically has nothing for us to do, and is giving us busy work. I still haven't been to my own house to see if the windows and shingles are all good.

Did a tornado touch down in marero yesterday afternoon? I heard something in the news. We're anxious to hear from the rest of the NOLA s2krew.

We're fine here on the MS Gulf Coast. Highway 90 is still closed from Bay St. Louis to the casinos just west of the Ocean Springs bridge. They did manage to get it opened from Ocean Springs to the casinos...gotta get those Alabama tourists back in front of the one-armed bandits. We need the tax revenue.

Lots of wind and rain, some storm surge but there was nothing there for the surge to surge over except dirt and sand and highway. We lost power several times but never for more than a second or two. We were lucky this time. Now we just have to keep an eye on Ike.

PJKIII had 3 trees go down that effected him: 2 were from the neighbors house and one of which caused a tree in his yard to go down into the next neighbor's house.
-lots of roof damage
-lots of fence damage on all 3 sides
-tree limb punctures the roof and you can see sky from the breakfast area
-a bazillion pounds of tree materials are now at the front of his house
-the prospects for power don't look good as his powerlines were ripped away from the house when a tree came down
-overall though, family and cars are all OK.

Please pass this on. Homeowners are responsible for the repair of any damage on the house side of the electric meter. Anything "upstream" of the meter will be taken care of by the utility company. Damage to the meter box itself is the home-owner's problem while the meter belongs to the power company. Sometimes whoever comes by from the power company will take care of small problems that are technically the responsibility of the home owner, but you can't count on it.

I pass this along so everyone can get their power back up as soon as possible. Electricians can be hard to find after an event like this.

Hey guys! I JUST got power back. We fared well here in Mandeville. A few trees down on the roads... water up to our chest on lakeshore drive (I'll post pics).. big A$$ pine down in the backyard. Nothing to write home about. Glad to see some of you have posted.
