NPR day
Tech inpection involved opening your hood ("Yeah your engine is there") and making sure you have a helmet (they were allowing both Motorcycle and SA rated helmets).
I got about 8 runs in at 5 laps each. You can lap in about 33 seconds. I could have had more but I got lazy in the end. In fact Mathew was there and he got about 4 runs in driving my car.
The course is nice but not necessarily that exciting. You will hit about 75 on the straight before braking into sort of a decreasing radius corner.
The course is also pretty easy on the brakes.
What is really nice is that this is a full race course so you have access to compressed air, etc. There were about 20 cars but Winston said that it was a light day because it rained a little earlier. He said the previous event had about 40 cars.
They let on three cars at a time (typically spaced about 3-4 seconds apart) and you could actually pass on the straight if waved by. There were a couple of a$$holes in turbocharged Integras that wouldn't let me by but on the whole everyone was very friendly and accomodating.
Bring water though because the concession stand will most likely not be open.
It was a lot of fun. For 20 bucks its almost as much fun as sex.
Will be there on the 10th by the way.
Maybe doc can get a yard pass and we can see how much he learned from his driving schools and can teach us a few things.

S2K_LA,
there are better ways to get there from the Hammond area than to go through BR. i used to work just north of NPR and had a lot of friends who commuted from the Livingston area... it would take them just about an hour by going through French Settlement and the like... i could suggest some directions at least to the Sunshine bridge for you if you'd like...

well -- i forget if you're actually in Hammond or not... doesn't going down I-55 actually put you a good ways out of the way before coming back west? given the speed limits, it could possibly be faster... i was thinking that you lived more on the western side of Hammond though.
i know when i used to go that way, we'd go (from Sorrento to Livingston) hwy 22 to 16 to 444 to 63.
but from Hammond, you'd probably want to go Pumpkin Center Road to hwy 22 (most of the way) and then down 70 from 22.... if nothing else, it's a lot more twisty.
and going 63 to 444 to 16 to 22 wouldn't be that much out of your way either... pretty quick and twisty driving either way, but there are some small towns along the route w/ cops that would love to eat a fancy city slicker sports car for lunch...
