I am trying to see who is interested in doing a lapping day at No Problem raceway. It will being during the week, so you will have to take off work. I will probably invite some of my autocross buddies also, so it won't be an exclusive S2000 day, unless we got a lot of interest.
If you are SERIOUSLY interested and can take off work, let me know. The cost will depend on how people go, but we will divide it up evenly. If I am not mistaken, I think I can get the whole track for about a $1000/day.
So if we get 20 people, that is $50 a person. The date is not set, so give me a date if you have one in mind. I have not talked to Winston yet, but I will after I get a gauge on how many people go.
So here we go:
Chip - iispms
PhilS2000
S2K_LA (April only)
genghiskwong
Troy (A Miata guy)
Matt (My boss)
Benson (Accord Guy)
Jose (Z06 guy - SCCA Safety Steward)
Andy (Spec CRX - instructor)
Jeff (C5 Corvette)
Keith (Autocrosser)
Regards,
Chip

You don't have to do a drivers school first. Although I am not a sertified instructor, I can help you get through it and teach you a few things. The great thing about doing this, you can go at your own pace, it is not a race.
Depending on the response, we can break everyone up in group according to thier ability. You will only be able to pass when signaled on the 2 straights.

whats up,
i don't generally post anything on this board b/c i usually never see any posts from the new orleans area. but this idea is awesome. i'm in if it stays @ 50 bucks. i have to add though, i've never been on a track with my car and its something that im very interested in tring. do we need anything else (i.e. helmet, safety gear??) side note, i would need advance notice of the date. i can get off work fairly easily but i also have night classes that i need to attend. they fall on tuesday and thursday (consideration also has to given for exam weeks
) i also have no idea where this track is. hope to hear more soon.
im so excited, can't wait to
and not look around for cops!!

We've already been planning to do a day at NPR but I might be in on this as well. In an event of this size I might not be welcome because I wouldn't want to run my FC with a bunch of big ol' fendered cars on the track at the same time. My car is just too hard to see and there's a lot of difference in the power and handling.
From what I remember, you are required to have long cotton pants and sleeves, a helmet (snell 95 or newer), and good tires (no cords).
I think that is all that is really needed. Passing is allowed only on 2 straights and you have to be waved on by the driver you are passing. This would be a good thing for newbie's. You get to learn how your car reacts and responds to your actions.
CG, you are probably right about the Formula, but we can probably accommidate you. You will more then likely be behind the cars, so they will have to see you before you pass. In addition, I am sure there will be time for you to be alone on the track.
When we get enough people, I will contact Winston. I am guessing a day in March or April would be best.
