Default Official No problem Raceway Thread

Guys,

I talked to Winston and he said the track charges $150/hr total. The more guys we can get, the cheaper it will be. He asked about the S2000 roll over protection because he is not familiar with it. I told him it has roll hoops. He said that should be ok to run the long course 1.8 mi.

Winston said he would have no problem with CG and his buddy helping us. I did not ask about running your formula vee though CG.

He also needs about a week notice. Everyone give me dates. CG, I know you are limited on the next couple of Friday.

Who is interested?

Well that sounds good... We would prob need maybe 2-3 hours of track time? Maybe only 2 hours?

We could do it in the afternoon maybe? Say from 1-4pm? That way we could drive there and drive back?

Just throwing out some thoughts...

That is fine with me. If we run on a Friday though we have to be off of the track by 4:30 p.m. for the Friday night drag races.

I would think to really do this justice we would need the track for more than a couple of hours. It would be great if we could get 8 or 10 people to split up the cost of 5 or more hours. Remember, this is a bunch of rookies and if you only have the track for a short time the tendency will be to go as fast as you can in as short a period of time as you can. That would be a recipe for someone to overcook a turn and crash. I think it would be much wiser to start out fairly slow and build up speed while really learning the track. I can probably get a guy with an old slow Miata with a Solo I bar to come over. Having him along would be great to help show the difference experience makes. It would also help defer the cost. We need to get a very good idea of how many people are willing to do this and we also need to set a max number that will be allowed.

I'll talk to my friend and see what Fridays are good for him. Keep in mind that we would have to come over the day / night before and would need to be able to park and hook up the motor home at the track. I don't think Winston would have any problem with my Formula 2000 / FC since it's passed all of the SCCA and USAC tech inspections.

I'm also working on a training day in Pensacola. Right now Sunday March 9th looks like the most likely day for high-speed autocross / track training. Figure on speeds between 95 and 105 mph.

Ooh, PickMe! Pick Me!

Will sell a guitar if necessary o skip a dose or two of crack.
Can do almost any afternoon.

Phil: you mentioned something about helmets in BR for around $140. would you mind seeing if that place could do a discount for 3+ helmets? I would like one, s2k_la might, and I am sure we could probably get someone else interested.

way to go guys on setting this up. thanks again

Helmet info: Most tracks require a helmet to have a Snell rating of SA95 or SA2000 and while I'm not sure I would expect No Problem to require that. Most autocross sites require a M90, M95, or M2000 rating. Do not buy a helmet that just has a DOT rating without a Snell rating as you probably won't be able to use it.

The Corvette club has agreed to host us with a school on March 9th. This will be the set up Brian saw last year. This will be a very fun day for everyone who brings tires that will hold air. Bring the Gals, stay on the beach 15 minutes away and get together for dinner in Pensacola.

Be nice to brian, not everyone realizes that your not supposed to drive over the sharp metal things.

CG would you, or someone else, mind writing up a list of 1)what is required for a track day, i.e. helmet, and 2) what is suggested, i.e. inflated tires.

thanks again

Wow!! All of this sounds great. I'd love to make it to the track, but I don't know if I can afford to....poor college student.

Spring Break is March 2-9 so school in Pensacola would be perfect on the 9th.

I'll do my best to join you guys at the tracks. I just need to see how much everything would cost, and you guys will wait for my slow ass CL won't you??

Guys,

I'll look up where I bought the helmet. The helmet does have a Snell 2000 rating. It does not have a M (which is for Motorcycle I believe). I will see if they can give us discounts.

CG, I don't know about Hookups at No Problem. I remeber them saying something on their past website about having them (they change their website design about as fast as you change clothes). You might want to call them.

Right now it looks like there are three of us in the paying group.

Me
Brian
Mark
Possibly Wankel?

Do any of you guys know anyone else. I might be able to find some non S2000 guys who want to run. I would sure like to get an all day track day (6 hours) and defer some of these costs.

Also CG, if a day other than Friday is better for we, I don't have a problem with doing that.
