Default VSA/Check Engine Light on

So a week or two ago I'm driving along, and I glanced down long enough to notice my check engine light blink on and off. I didn't think too much about it, and it didn't come back on until yesterday.

This time the c.e. light came on along with the VSA light, and the typical "!" that comes on when u manually turn the VSA off. I turned the ignition off, and started her up again. It went away momentarily, but returned within less than a mile.

This morning, the c.e. light returned, and stayed on for the full 30 minute drive to work w/o the VSA light ever returning.

I found a few threads already addressing this, but none of them seemed to have a solid diagnosis, or sollution for that matter. The car seems to b running as good as usual, so I'm not sure what the problem may or may not be.

Anybody else experienced anything similar?

Not here, but until you have that code checked, I would advise not driving the car.

That's crazy man! I just got code for misfire on cylinder 2 down at Autozone. Like urs , the car seems to b running fine though. I haven't had any engine work done, so I'm not sure what could have caused it.

**Also, I must have done a pretty sh*tty job looking if I missed ur thread!**

Pretty insane the situation is virtually identical.

If it's not a flashing CEL you should be fine. Have you had any dramatic temperature changes? And when they pulled the code is that what they said was stored?

The temp. has more less been steady. The guy at Autozone said it came back as a cylinder #2 mis-fire (is that what you were asking?).

Also, the warning lights went off immediately after the diagnostic. Does the ECU reset after being checked?

Yes it will clear the codes but if it's not fixed it will come back eventually.
