Thanks Brian I think we are doing pretty good also.

However, the hard reality is that Chip was 3 seconds faster then us on a course where we were running 34 second laps and personally I don't know what we need to do to close that gap.

I wanted to ask you, did you let him drive your car to see what he thought of your cars handling? If he did, what kind of lap times did he run?

The real sad thing is that he was running Khumos and he was still 3 seconds faster than us (although you were running Khumos also).

I understand some of it is car setup but I would bet the majority of it was driving. A perfect example of this was in P-cola where you and I ran1:09's & 1:10's in your car and Richard (I think it was Richard) ran a 1:06 in your car.

I don't know, maybe I am expecting too much too fast.

P.S. Did you see that damn Volkswagen Golf driver? He was running in the mid 32's!!!!!!!!

Phil, you probably are expecting too much too soon. Driving well is a skill that takes time to learn and even after years of doing it I still have days that leave me pissed off because I just can't put it all together. If you are frustrated don

CG,

You ran 58 or 59 with the exact same long course we ran on Saturday!!!! Very impressive!!!! I definitely have a long way to go!

I think I'll pass on Sunday though. Too much to do around the house. However, I will definitely attend the next school.

Do you guys every do a DE style event (where you run multiple cars for 20 to 30 minutes). I would think ya'lls course because of its length could easily handle multiple cars. Don't really know but I think this would go a long way (by running multiple consecutive laps) in improving my driving.

The DE events use a slightly different driving style from the autocross style. It's easier to go from being an autoXer to a road racer (DE) than the other way around IMO. The reason is that you learn more car control in autoX's and you can use that control on the big track. That is not knocking the DE events in any way. They are a freaking blast.

We used to run Solo I's on this site and we used much more of the space so that each lap was 1.7 miles long. We had some cars running as fast as 160 or 170. I've seen upper 130's in my S2000 on the site. We're no longer doing that because of the manpower it was taking to keep the site up and the fact that the last time we did it we only had 17 cars show up.

The Porsche club does run some DE events on the site but I'm not sure they would approve the S2000's rollbars. They've also canceled several events lately at the last minute. I'll need to do some research before I'd suggest you making the trip over for one of their events. You might want to see if Chip has anything going on with NOR.

Yes I ran a 58 or 59 (maybe faster) on almost the exact same course. There were some slight differences. The start and finish lights were in the same place and there were 2 fewer cones. Believe it or not Cliff has timed mulitple cars both with and without cones and it made very little difference.

I hope Chip still plans to to the NPR event. I would be very interested in this. I think what we need most is seat time!!

Well what I noticed with Chip is that he was at the limits the whole way around the course. There wasn't really a time when I didn't hear the tires. He was also much smoother in the increasing radius turn and the slalom.

I think it is just a matter of me wanting to push my car harder and harder.

I am getting much better at recovering... something that only comes from many mistakes

With this feel of knowing when the car is going to break loose I am starting to use feel to push the car farther and farther.

I guess I can sum things up like this... with every run things seem to SLOW DOWN. Some things that were hard are now not even processed in my brain and are done naturally. This is allowing me to focus on other things. I hope to rinse repeat this learning curve and get better.

I hope all that made sense.
