Touring
Hi, I am an English guy living in Tokyo that would like to hook up with other S2000 owners for touring at weekends, karting etc, drop me a mail to kyep@wahay.net. I am already a member of the NSX club of Japan, is there an S2000 club up and running?
Thanks,
Kye

Welcome to the board. It's been very quiet in this little corner.
I don't know of any gaijin S2000 clubs. I only met Tokyo James and John Grater (ex-S2000, now RX8).
We did a mini meet once before, but that is a long story (hint: see my sig).
Apart from that, we have also had the odd beer now and then. It's really difficult to get us all together as some of us travel abroad a lot.
Do you know about the S2000 driving forum held at the Motegi race track?
I think they to that for NSX too. I very keen to do that, but the language is the biggest hurdle.

Let me know if you are planning any meets etc. I wouldnt mind doing some karting up in Motegi or elsewhere.
I have been to Motegi a few times with the NSX but never with the S, heading to Suzuka on the 18th of October but again with the NSX ...
I can find out when the next owners meeting for S2000 will be held at Motegi, usually the instructors/professional drivers speak English aswell as Japanese (the last NSX owners meeting was no problem).
Are you in Tokyo, meeting for a beer is always easy!

Hi Kye,
I am also in Tokyo ...... the reason that we have problems meeting for beers is arranging three people to be available on the same night, since Vincent and I both travel quite a lot for work.
Do you have and NSX and an S2000 ?

Hi James,
Yep got an NSX and an S, its the second NSX since the last one is now RIP ....... what happened to your 99 S ??
I might go to Hakone this Saturday for a drive if any one is free then your welcome to join (if no rain/mist or chance of it)
I met up with 6 other S2000's who were touring around Izu a couple of weeks ago by chance, but I was on the way diving so couldnt join them, they were keen to meet up another time, they were an S2000 club from Yokohama.
Have you been to Motegi/Suzuka with your S? I am trying to find out when the next owners meeting is, cant wait to track it as I always have great fun in the NSX (except replacing tyres, brakes etc after .....)

I wrote my '99 off on the way back from Izu .... on the Tomei in the rain, hit some standing water and aquaplaned into the central reservation and was shot across all 3 lanes into the wall on the far side .... totalled all four corners ......
I am going to be pretty busy this weekend I think since I am doing a distance learning course and have one last assignment to get done.
Where the S2000 owners Japanese? Do you speak Japanese? I have not had a chance to track the car, but would be very interested if someone managed to come up with a track chance .....
How long have you been here in Japan? What do you do?

I wrote of my first NSX in a similiar fashion in 2000 on the dai san keiin, not rain but a very very cold night, did three corners and approx 5 million in damage, chasis was twisted so written off.
Its interesting as two months ago a freind in an NSX-R did exactly the same as you did on the highway right in front of me, very scary to see, car aquaplaned into center and like a miracle missed all other traffic as it went backwards into the hard shoulder (where it went 3 meters up the side wall tearing down two big road signs .....) he was ok but the car was destroyed, and I got more type-R parts .......
My Japanese is terrible, study but ....... how about you? work in Japan as a project manager at a telecoms company.
I will go to Verno tomorrow night to see about the next owners meeting in Motegi, should be one in Oct/Nov will post up the info.
Goodluck with the studies!

James, question for you. How did you register your VIN number in the profile page ? it doesnt accept my VIN, maybe I am putting it in the wrong format or ? Mine is AP1-1101201 how did you enter yours into that field so that it is accepted, I think the Japanese vin format is different to Europe/states.

just a short touring in japan story....while living in komagane my wife hung out at a local coffee house ["goo's"]..seems the owner was a bit of a car nut...we were invited over to his shop/house on his day off...sitting in the parking lot was his morgan ss and a ginetta roadster!!! he took my wife as a passenger and i got the ginetta with his wife....we crossed to the "other" side of the tenryugawa and he took us on a wonderful tour through the mountains to a sacred spring...we rested a bit and raced back down with a stop for a light snack ...beautiful scenery and great roads...easily the match for any drive here in the SF bay area....[but with way less traffic!!!!]
