Default Fuel........

Okay,

So I've got to ask, is anybody a little picky with regards to the fuel you use and where you get it?

In Melbourne I used to fill up at Mobil Nunawading specifically for Mobil Synergy 8000.

I even at one point had performed a test to see which petrol seemed to deliver the best consumption. Over four months I used BP, Shell, Mobil and Caltex (each for a month).

Problem with BP and Caltex in Melbourne was it was not as readily available as Shell and Mobil. BP Ultimate seemed to deliver best consumption. I did try to ensure my daily/weekly driving habits/routes remained largely the same.

However here in Perth, I've yet to find a friggin Mobile service station, let alone a Shell that specifically looks "modern" enough and advertises V-Power.

I'm begining to wonder whether the premium I'm using is 98RON and whether this is contributing to my very low mileage (other then limited use over the weekend).

So hence the question, what do you guys use? Do you care? Thoughts etc etc.

You are in Perth? I never know we got a 2007 s2k here

Your choice are Caltex and BP , BP is readily available across Perth.

I never have problem sourcing BP Ultimate for my car

i'm usually fill with BP ultimate, Mobile 8000, or Shell Vortex (or Vortex Unlimited), for some reason, and i think because of what i've heard through the grapevine, i just don't fill anything performance/sports at caltex.

Speaking of fuel I recently stopped in at the Shell in Eastern Creek. They no longer have V-Power Racing (5% Ethanol) and had replaced it with Shell Unleaded E10 with Fuel Economy Formula. And where as Racing was sold at a premium the Economy was almost 20c cheaper.

Great I thought, I'll give it a go. So I started pumping and noticed that the numbers were clicking over real slow. Guess you expect that with a lower price. But not this slow. After what seemed like ages I got to $10. I waved at the guy in the booth and filled up with standard V-Power and went inside to pay.

The attendant told me it was because of the filter on the hose and sure enough at the top of the hose was an inline filter that was apparently slowing the flow. And soon all bowsers will have them.

I only hope that they improve the filtering or it will take an hour to fill my ute.

And from Mobil themselves.....

"Most of the service stations in Western Australia has been de-branded or some are owned and operated by distributors.

Unfortunately we do not have information and could not confirm Synergy8000 is avialable or not due to the service stations in WA were not belongs to Mobil."

My fellow office enthusiast has indicated BP is the only way to go in WA.

PS - AUS i've not found any attendants that could provide any information with respect to fuel. They CAN tell me how to save money by buying this or that however!!

I use Caltex.

I strongly advise that you keep your Honda away from the Shell Optimax - especially the Accord Euro. The additives in the fuel are known to trigger off issues.
