I jail broke my 3G for the video, but with my 3GS there was no need, can anyone shed more info about the ability for hackers to get into your phone if it has been jail broken?

 

I'd Google that but sounds like a typical paranoid rumour to me.

Could be a rumor as was having a casual conversation with my 20yr old Bond University nephew, whose mate had his bank account hacked via his jail broken 3G.

On another note for the uninformed as I was, not to make a long story of it. But since having my 3GS I have been letting my 3 & 1/2 year old tech savy daughter play with the many kids apps, free ones of course. Anyways she picked out a FREE app and I downloaded it for her, FISHIES from memory. So I went about what I was doing, a couple of hours later and I receive a Tax Invoice from I Tunes as you do, expecting to see a $0.00 amt balance. NO it was for $120.00 for "1250 pearls".... WTF!!!!
I thought that for any upgrades I would be protected by password protect!!! ... this is where I was ignorant...so I write a nice little note to Apple support - I Tunes and to my relief and surprise they returned email, within 24hrs with a one-time exception and refund the full amt. They also informed me of the "RESTRICTIONS" in general settings and In-App purchases. So for those of you that are like me and don't read all the directions, take a look at the RESTRICTIONS in settings especially if you have a little one..

Had a play with OS4 on a 3gs .. not that impressed... as for the multitasking... not true multitasking as theres no multiple apps on the screen (too small anyway) just leaves apps open (paused/ cached) on the taskbar at the bottom

Will upgrade when I see a jailbreak for it

BTW... good news for V3.1.3 with baseband 05.12.01.. Sim card unlocking cracked again.. just install Ultrasnow v0.93 from Cydia... tested all good

Actually your better off using itunes prepaid cards rather then direct debit or credit card facilities to limit exposure.

 

True, though I consider it a phone more than PC. So whilst Windows CE devices might enable this stuff, I simply need some of the apps developed to continue doing what they should be doing, when a message or notification causes me to interrupt and switch tasks. So IOS4.0 = job done


Overall I might be disappointed and be less inclined to get an Iphone4. Truth is its still going to happen.
