Default The Reno Room

Finally after 5 months of owning this home I've finished the renovation to the kitchen and rear room. Damn it's taken a long time. But I've mainly only been working on weekends (with the exception of the last 2 weeks where I decided to work every night from 7:30pm to 11:30'ish), and even then, the majority was done alone.

Also spent alot of time in the garden fixing things up. Removing tree's, pruning, etc. Had so much to do. Still do.

So here's the evolution of my new kitchen and back room
(please excuse the camera phone photos, and the lack of "during painting" photos)

Very happy at the moment. I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. What once was a very dark and dirty kitchen (I didn't even want to put plates inside the damn cupboards), is now something clean that I will happily use, that I'm proud of.

The change list went something like this:
- Kitchen cabinet doors removed, sanded, primed and repainted
- Kitchen cabinet interiors sanded, sealed, primed and painted
- Ceiling rose gap fixed
- Ceilings painted
- All walls and trim painted (kitchen and back area)
- Found new cabinet handles on ebay
- Picked up new cabinet handles
- Installed new cabinet handles
- Stove removed
- Dishwasher removed
- 50 year old grease that found its way down behind the stove cleaned up
- Holes in floor under dishwasher sealed up
- Old lino taken up
- Left over lino + glue removed painstakingly with tiny steamer and paint scraper
- All walls repainted as I didn't like the colour I had painted them
- New vinyl floor laid today.

More Kitchen Cabinets

...and now I have to start the next project. The laundry. *sigh* It needs a crapload of work...

I also might paint those tiles in the kitchen...

Anyway, total spend including floor was close to $2.5k. w00t!

Also, can't have the BBQ yet guys as I only have 4 dining chairs. Unless you want to sit on the floor or the grass outside? lol

Doing better than I did. I think by the 5 month mark the kitchen wasn't ready yet. Just a big expanse of wall and pipes sticking out of it!

So when are you having a reno-cruise bbq???

BBQ soon, soon.

Can't afford to cruise. LOL!

Had to mow my weeds after 1 week. Took me nearly 4 hours straight to do the front and backyard. I have grown to hate trees and grass.

Pic's of front yard. (none of backyard, I was too lazy to walk down there after mowing)

Yay, grass is mowed. Grrr. Stupid palm trees.

Big car-port.

P
LOL... that is exactly how long it took me to do mine yesterday!!

Mind you half of mine have to be done by weedwacker as it is too uneven for a lawnmower and I hadn't done the backyard in 3 months. The grass was knee high.

whoa that's tall! Did you find anything that had been hiding in the grass?

I remember mowing the knee high lawn at my parents investment property before they put a house on it and finding a chandelier that still worked, and still works. lol

Since finishing the kitchen and backroom I've started on the Laundry.

Whoever built my laundry was an absolute IDIOT. It's that ridiculous I don't want to share pics till after it's finished.

So anyway, I've been sick with the flu since Sunday, and being sick of being sick I decided to go and take a photo of my car as she slept in the garage, and I thought I'd share.

Here she is:

Got an electric mower yesterday. The old one was a two stroke I borrowed from the in-laws. It was rickety (some of the housing was eaten away by rust) and the fumes were a pain in the neck.

Went electric partly because of emissions but also because they cost 1/2 as much as a 4 stroke. Did the lawn (front and back) and edging in about 2 hours. I am happy as Larry.

I ended up inheriting my dad's old 2 stroke Victa Mustang. Brilliant mower, just a bit loud. lol.

Has anyone else noticed that google maps has been updated recently? You can zoom all the way down.

Here's my house.

What really sucks is I own nearly every single tree in the image... I hate tree's. I really hate tree's.

EDIT: stupid imageshack dropped the image overnight.
